Grammy winning songwriter Diane Warren is often confused with that other award winning songwriter, Denise Rich (at least by me). Both ladies have written pop songs for the ages. But Warren is more prolific. You may not know her name but you know her songs:

Because You Loved Me.” “How Do I Live.” “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.” “Love Will Lead You Back.” “If I Could Turn Back Time.” “Un-Break My Heart.”

The list goes on and on. Warren, who is very humble, is not one to toot her own horn. But when Warren says she’s written the “career song” for singer Beyoncé, that tooting horn sounds like music to Bey’s Stans’ ears!

I just wrote something a week and a half ago that Beyoncé recorded and I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever written. She sang it amazingly. I think it’s a career song and probably my favorite thing I’ve ever written … right now. Well, to be honest, I always like my newest songs the most. But I’m also really proud of stuff like “Because You Loved Me,” “Unbreak My Heart” and “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.” I love the song I wrote for Justin Bieber’s movie. Or this new song I’m doing for Jennifer Hudson’s movie – they’re all my favorites. But I have to say, this Beyoncé song … I think it’s really, really going to touch people.

With Bey hearing Kelly Rowland’s footsteps quickly approaching from behind her, the one thing she sorely needs right now is a career song. I do like the direction that Beyoncé’s music is going in. Her lyrics are beginning to sound a lot more mature, and Beyoncé’s vocal tug-of-war with the lush musical arrangements of her new tracks is quite interesting.

Now if only she would stop over-singing on every track…
