Welp, I am a Beyonce fan, and I go on record as saying I did not like one song off of her album. With that being said, she is still going to make a slew of money off of this album with marketing, concerts, tours, television appearances, etc.
So, there’s nothing negative I can say!

Most of the time, I hate Beyonce’s music and then she releases a video, or they play one of her songs until you know all the words and you end up liking it by default.
This album, I don’t see it. Maybe because I’m past the whole video thing, so she doesn’t have that edge with me. But the songs just suck a$$ on this album.
I give Beyonce credit for being the hardest working broad in the game, because she definitely puts in work and it shows, but this album is gobbage. The end.
On a side note: I’m supposed to be reviewing Mathew Knowles’ gospel artist Trin-i-Tee 5:7’s cd, but they will NOT send me that CD and their A&R person keeps saying, “Carrington, where is your review?… let me call them to find out where the CD is, they were supposed to have sent it 5 different times.”
I finally had to break it down; “LOOK, bro. I haven’t been “kind” to Matty “The Don” Knowles’ business practices in the past, I suspect he ain’t tryin to do business with me because he thinks it’s personal.” – NOW, it’s personal!

You are so right. That is the ONLY song I like on that album…… The songs on the cd just make he shake my head. I can’t wait to hear Kelly’s album, she better take heed from Beyonce’s album and bring it cause Beyonce did not bring it this time. Dangerously in love was Beyonce’s best cd ever.
I like the Album! I can hear her growth as an artist. I like that it has more ballads than the typical booty shaking songs (I like those too). My favs are Party, Rather die young, 1+1, Best I never had & I care. Maybe I’m just a fan but Bey def didn’t disappoint!

Anyway, I think 313K is a very good thing especially since we all thought she would sell in the hundred thousands. Selling this much without having any hits to push the album, a leak about a month before the albums release date , and all the bad press 4 has received i think is really good. Considering that she managed to outsell her fellow pop titans first week sales when they all had hits. (ie Britney,Rihanna,Katy,Christina etc)
With that being said I fell that although 4 is Beyonce’s best album to date(according to critics on Metacritic) I am still not wowed by Beyonce
I am waiting for her to release that album that makes her worthy of all the accolades she has received.
She is still # 1 on the charts but its no dangerously in love cd but I still like it. I like

I like the album. It’s a solid album. Different strokes for different folks. I understand most people want her to do something unrealistic. Her album is def better than Lady Gagas and Brittney.

This album will not sell over 100k NEVER WEEK. IT IS WACK…. Please keep in mind copies sold does not automatically mean the album sold that many copies it mean shipment. Also this album is selling for 3.99 in some stores. Not good for someone considered a legion.
I just watched the youtube version of 1+1 and it made me cry, loved it!
The album shows that she has grown as a woman and she is truly in love with her husband and herself as a woman. Maybe im missing something but I enjoyed the album and 313,000 in one week is not a bad number at all.

I agree, I like the album as a whole and can really listen to it. Just cuz its not teh typical album people expected then its not good. She has grown and I def like Start Over and Party with Andre3000, that song takes me back to the smooth 90’s era.
Beyonce has had a mad streak of hit after hit after hit; CD after CD of successes.
She is entitled to switch gears and do something different. Eventually one or more of the songs will be remixed and will become supernova hot.
With talent, earnings and a fan base like hers, she’s not hurting for sales.
She’s not out of the game.

While I think 313k is a good number given the circumstances, I think the point that Sandra is trying to make is that if you’re first week sales don’t make you at least Gold, then you’re going to catch hell trying to reach Platinum certification AND have the record sales to show for it. Granted, it can be done but it is going to be hard. Britney Spears debuted with 275k, I think, and the album has been certified platinum but it hasn’t actually sold a million copies last time I checked. And given the fact that that Britney Spears has slayed everyone since 1999 when it came to album sales alone (Lady Gaga shyt sold for .99 two days and that album still didn’t outdo Britney Spears best first week sales), this last album is considered a failure compared to her previous work, save for Blackout- which too was considered a failure. I said that to say that this will be true for Beyonce too. But no one stays at the top for forever. That’s just my two cents.

I dont think its going to be possible these days for one album to be selling 15,20 mill worldwide. Album sales are generally ridiculously low. So you cant compare artists in one era to those of era’s before them.
You have to make an analysis in the context of the time they are in.
The main reason Bey is heralded as the icon of our generation is because she hasnt really had much competition over the years, Gaga is her only competition and if Gaga fizzles out before her then ah well.
It has been too late for me since she purchased that Millennium Award. I am no longer a faithful believer.

WHY is it that folks can dislike any and every other but if you don’t like Beyonce it’s a problem??? Different strokes for different folks and I think other artist work just as hard as she does being mainstream doesn’t mean you are the hardest working IMO. I actually like her new cd much better than that Sasha Fierce crap. I am glad she is FINALLY growing as an artist!

Columbia Records’ Beyonce gets another week for her new album 4 at #1, where the likes of fellow female superstars like Adele, Jill Scott and Lady Gaga have recently made their home. On this week’s chart, 4 sold a total of 313k to debut on top over Adele.
With the fourth of July hitting on Monday, labels held back on their releases. The only significant newcomer this week is Interscope R&B crooner Lloyd, whose King of Hearts is his first album since 2008’s Lessons in Love. The first single, “Lay It Down,” was a Top 10 hit on the R&B charts last year. Initial one-day sales reports from those music retailers who haven’t paved paradise to put up a parking lot now peg the release’s sales in the 20-25k range.
S-Curve Bradenton, FL, rockers We the Kings’ third album, Sunshine State of Mind, is an iTunes exclusive this week before going wide on July 12. It is expected to do close to 10k.
Other major releases coming include WB Nashville’s Blake Shelton, Epic’s Incubus, Universal Republic’s Colbie Caillat and Sony Nashville’s Chris Young on July 12, with Universal Republic’s Three Doors Down on July 19.
The market was up 7% vs. last week, up 14% vs. the same week last year and now up 1% year to date. Whoopie!

I have ran 4 miles on several occasions to Countdown, and Who Runs the World. Now, I’ll admit, that I don’t love this album like some from the past, but she just sounds IN LOVE, and the same thing happened to Mary J. Blidge when she became “happy”. Happy people should steer far away from ballads. The songs she picked really depict the place that she’s in emotionally (just a guess). The songs are all beautiful, but it’s just summer time, and people want to jam, dance, get it poppin. I’m not mad at her, and I like the album. I can’t help but wonder if she needs her daddy back, but I appreciate her talent.

313 in the first week is INDEED A FLOP for someone of Beyonce’s supposed status. She is expected to sell at least 500,000 or more. She fell short at a mininum of 200,000. And why? Cause the cd is weak and there’s not many hits on there if any…
And whoever said she hasn’t done alot of promo for this album is straight up making excuses…she has too done alot of promos, releasing pics, making videos for kids, showing up at kids school dancing with them, going to harlem and hugging kids, having jayz release statements about how great she is and he’d never realized that before, releasing tons and tons of darn near nakid pics with chaps on and thongs, etc., etc., etc….now she’s saying she’s doing a new reunion tour with Destiny Child because she knows the jig is up. Every single year people have begged her, asking her to do a reunion tour, but she didn’t want to go back to giving kelly and michelle any of her solo shine, so she just kept the prospect of a reunion tour in her back pocket until her popularity flame got low, and then bam, she pulling that card. She thinks this will revive things. But the reality is, people aren’t checking for her the way they were years ago. Every good thing must come to an end, Beyonce knows to accept that. She will kill herself trying to be that “it” girl years from now…It’s ridiculous.
And why are people giving her credit for her selling 313 cd’s without a hit or promos? That speaks volumes alright, THAT PEOPLE WILL BUY HER MUSIC AND HAS BEEN IN THE PAST BUYING HER MUSIC JUST BECAUSE SHE IS BEYONCE, AND NOT BASED ON HOW GOOD THE MUSIC REALLY IS. That is indeed sad. That’s why other more or just as deserving artists can’t catch a break. It’s definitely not because Beyonce is more talented. It’s because she got a lot of loyal fans that worship her for many other reasons aside from her music. Some people worship her position in the world, worship that fact that she is rich beyond imagination, worship the fact that she’s with a rich camel, worship the fact that she’s attractive…basically worship the fact that her life is everything there’s can and never be…there are many convolutted reasons why Beyonce has gotten to her success, and it’s not all because she is hard working…there are many other artists just as hardworking, or others willing to work just as hard and are just as talented..except they don’t have all the frills beyonce has…
i like her album, although i’m not a huge fan of hers. i think 300+ is good, like others have said, especially if she doesn’t have a top hit! i think we’ve become accustomed to her putting out gyrating club bangers, and since Dangerously in Love, this is the one that she’s actually belting out how she really feels about love and life.
Ummm…to the person that said she sold 3 million in Brazil, that’s not true. She went 3 times platinum, but platinum in Brazil is 40,000 copies sold from an international artist, not 1 million like it is in the US. And Mimi08, I stand up and applaud your comment. I always said people worship this girl’s beauty and her sensuality, and she knows that and uses it to her advantage.
