Proving that she is not an appropriate role model for young girls today, troubled singer Rihanna released her music video for her alcoholic anthem “Cheers (I’ll Drink To That)”. “Cheers” was released yesterday within hours of the release of Beyonce’s “1+1” music video.
Like Bey’s video, Rihanna’s “Cheers” is low budget and devoid of any actual directing or artistry. The mishmash of vacation shots interspersed with concert footage was filmed mostly during her recent return to her hometown of Barbados. If you’re not an alcoholic, weedhead, or hardcore Rihanna Stan, this video will bore you to tears.

This video reminds me of a modern day remake of “Diggin’ On You.” I remember when TLC made that video, I was confused as hell as to what was going on as a kid. At that time, I had never seen a concert/documentary as a music video.

I liked it, especially Avril Lavigne’s “yeah, yeah”. Nothing different than Katy Perry’s Friday and Kesha’s Tik Tok. I listen to radio stations that play Adele, Katy Perry, Kesha, Brittney Spears and Selena Gomez (I have teenager girls and a four year old). Those white girls have catchy, fun lyrics. Turn on urban radio and you hear nothing but butt songs- I pass. I’m not bought out- I listen to grown folks music-Ledisi, Kem and Jill Scott…IJS.
@Cricket I listen to various kinds of music but only mainly buy neo soul artist for the most part and a few hip hop ppl (TI/Kanye/Outkast/Nas) I love me a good catchy pop song though I have a few of Rihannas cds and I love them. Kathy keeps her a hit song on the radio. I went to a YT middle school so I feel in love with pop/rock way back in the day.
