Yesterday, Tameka “Tiny” Harris’ publicist reached out to Sandrarose.com with the great news that Tiny is expanding her successful Tiny’s Nail Bar to a new location.
“We are so excited about the success of Family Hustle and especially proud of Tameka as a business woman, mother, wife, producer and executive producer,” wrote Tenisha Ramos of Somar Entertainment in an email.
“As an entreprenuer giving back to the community Tameka is looking for 10 nail technicians and a Spa Manager,” she announced.
Tameka is also announcing the winner of her Family Hustle giveaway February 6, 2012 on her Twitter page for the best Family Hustle story. People can register by going to www.tinysnails.com or www.hypehair.com.

Um I paid way to much to get my nails done at her shop, might I add the gel was coming up off my nails within a week, I went to another nail shop and got them repaired. I will never go to her shop and you don’t even wanna know how much I spent there to ashamed to tell
. But the shop is right up the street from my crib, and it always looks empty. I am just being honest, they do excellent nail art but that is all

EX Teacher – Los Angeles school officials are trying to determine how a former elementary school teacher charged with molesting 23 children over a two-year period and taking photos of them could have committed the crimes, possibly in a school classroom, without anybody finding out.
“We are trying to understand, how could that have happened?” said Los Angeles Unified School District Superintendent John Deasy in a phone interview with msnbc.com. “We’ve had no complaints from parents or students.”
Authorities arrested Mark Berndt, 61, Monday at his Torrance home following a year-long probe that began when a film processor turned in the images to law enforcement. Berndt had been a teacher at Miramonte Elementary School in an unincorporated area of south Los Angeles for more than 30 years, but was fired by the school district shortly after the investigation began in January 2011.
advertisementDeasy said there was nothing in Berndt’s long record with the school district to indicate a problem. “Not so much as a single complaint,” he said.
“I am disgusted beyond belief,” Deasy said. “I’m a dad as well as a superintendent and it’s horrifying.”
Cockroaches on their mouths
Some of the images allegedly show Berndt with his arm around the children or with his hand over their mouths, according to a statement by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. In addition, authorities say the images depict girls with a blue plastic spoon filled with a substance, later determined to be semen. There were also photos of children with large, live Madagascar-type cockroaches on their faces and mouths.
Early in the investigation, Special Victims Bureau detectives recovered a blue plastic spoon and an empty container from the trash in the suspect’s classroom. The recovered items tested positive for semen, authorities said, and the suspect’s DNA matched the DNA profile found on the spoon and container.
“We ended up finding out through DNA that the white substance was bodily fluids from our suspect,” Lt. Carlos Marquez told NBCLosAngeles.com. A search warrant served by detectives on Berndt’s home also led to the discovery of more than 100 similar photographs depicting children, authorities aid. Also found was a DVD depicting adult sexual “bondage” activity. The adults in that DVD are not identified, according to detectives.
Vicims were ages 6-10
As part of the investigation, authorities say they have interviewed more than 80 current and former students, as well as school employees. The victims are identified as 23 boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 10, during a time period from 2008 to 2010.
Investigators are still working to identify 10 of the child victims in the 390 photos uncovered.
Authorities are recommending the children be tested for sexually transmitted diseases, the Associated Press reported.
Berndt was being held Tuesday on a $2.3 million bail. Berndt is unmarried, has no children and there’s no indication of a previous arrest record, authorities told the Associated Press.

Deasy said “crisis counseling and support have been provided for more than a year to the known victims and their families, and we continue to offer those necessary services to new victims as they are identified or any student or parents who requests assistance.”

Besides having a crisis team at the elementary school, Deasy said the district is also reaching out to the middle school and is planning community meetings to discuss parent concerns.

They were very nice,offered you beverages and all, but for the money I paid I should have had some liqour in my dranks. Then she did my nails, and waited till she was completely finished and said I owe her 85 bucks. I almost chitted a brick in there. Luckily I had the money, but with prices like that, you need to give me a heads up. Lesson learned will never go back, not to mention, had to get my nails repaired within a week. But they were very nice, and did great nail art. But if your anything like me, I look for quality, what good is nail art if ya nail breaks within a week.

I don’t go to rinky dink places of business. Usually I will confer with someone who knows the place. If I walk in a place and it lacks good business ethics, then I am out the door. I don’t deal with ill people with ill attitudes, or ill business practices.
To clarify I have had good experiences with Black business, unfournately the bad outweighs the good, due to the percentage of the business are small.

In all honesty, I agree that I’ve had bad experiences with a number of businesses despite race etc. There are good black businesses out there but for some reason, one bad experience with a black business deters many from visiting ALL black businesses but the same doesn’t go for others … I don’t get it
I’ve been to 2 black owned hair salons in downtown Chicago and the service and atmosphere was great!
The only difference was that the rates were much higher.

Yes they did, that was my fault for even paying for that mess, I had nail art on each finger too, but she still over charged me. But the fact of the matter to over charge someone just cause you can says a lot about the honesty in there. Have you ever used AmLactin lotion (my holy grail lotion)? Its chock full of Lactic Acid and it exfoliates, etc, and remains gentle (unlike Bleach :hahaha:) L.A. is in sour cream too. i use sour cream in my face mask.
I was just thinking Mister could start on some new formulations for L.A.N.D. You could actually have something “specifically” for feet. Im thinking of your friend here.

What’s going on in her life.
I’ve been sober for two years, and a lot of people can’t say that. I’m timid, shy and broken a little bit by some of the responses [online], but then again so much support from the people saying “No! She’s none of that.” Real friends stepping up … And just showing me who the real people were in my life. It helped me find myself and find out that there’s a real true artist inside of me–that no matter what obstacles may come, he’s not going to let you fall, and he’s not going to let you down.
I started ministering to myself and looking at my heart … Finding my voice … And it just made me stronger. If it doesn’t kill you, it will make you stronger. Like Drake says, “It’s far from over…” I listened to the music that people were making, and it kept inspiring me. I started making music, and I just stepped out on a limb. My mom died … So much has happened. I miss people in my life. I miss LL [Cool J]. Debbie Allen came back to the community … And for once so many miracles. I swear so many miracles!
On the state of her career and the youtube videos that surfaced:
I went on to do movies, and nobody talked about it, and that hurt me. I did a movie called ‘Rim Shop’ after Katrina had happened in New Orleans. We went down there, and that place looked a mess, seriously. We shot a film out there just to help those people, to bring revenue in and just show our support to their situation. Then, I did a gospel kind of Tyler Perry play called ‘Friends and Lovers’.
I’m trying to reach out to Tyler Perry about one of the mom’s latest novels. She was nominated for a Noble Peace Prize for literature. [It’s called 72-Hour Hold] it was a story about her and my relationship, and I wish that Halle Berry would pick it up and read it if you’re listening. I would love for her to play the lead character.
There are so many goals and dreams that God has put in my heart while I’m sitting here sober. And I’m not doing the things I use to do. The way they attacked me on the Internet–it was BS. These guys said they were going to shoot a video for my music. I was trying to work independently–and I’m not saying that I was clear headed to believe them, but I was not doing what the heck they said I was doing. They blasted me with the words they put on the screen and just made everybody look at me another way. And I’m like, “That’s really messed up if anybody believes that!” But a lot of people didn’t. And they knew that and came to my rescue and said, “Let’s just get you all the way right.”
On her future
I went to Spelman, but a lot of HBCUs named a month after my mom for mental health month because she supported the mental health … Her book was about a girl with a bi-polar mental health issues and her relationship with her mom. It was kind of a bougie little girl that was prive to every freakin’ thing, raised up in The Hills and just had it like that. Nobody took the time to deal with her psychologically. And that’s what ’72-Hour Hold’ is about. That’s the next project that I want to basically get out to producers and Tyler Perry to see if anybody is interested in pushing it.
I want to attach myself to anything-–reality shows, movies–but positive characters. I don’t want to play the crazy girl like, ”Craig, Craig let me borrow your VCR!” It’s too much of that in life, and we got kids out there … I wish they would take that type of stuff off the Internet because the kids have to go to school and deal with reality of that, and it makes it hard for them to learn.
On her background and family
I went to school in LA. I was born in D.C. I have a little girl–She has a video out right now. She just turned 11. She just did an India Arie video. It’s on YouTube, check it out it’s called “Heaven.” It’s real emotional and really sweet. She’s acting in it, and it’s a real touchy video. Somebody I went to school with at Spelman University directed and put it together. We actually had her and one of my former acting friends Kareem Barnes–from a TV show called “South Central”–he played the father. It was kind of an interesting piece about being bi-racial.
On the book she’s working on called ‘Sagittarius’
I’m terrified. We just got to the process where we’re ready to release. Most of it is a sweet little memoir about … My mother has put out about 10 books, so I should be a veteran because I’ve watched my mom put out book after book with no problem. There’s just something about this industry, and I don’t want to make more enemies than friends. I know there’s a code, and you need to keep most of these things … You just don’t … I don’t know. I just don’t know. I don’t know if I’m ready to put this book out.
I know my life is an open book. I know people know everything or think they know things about me and already made assumptions behind what they’ve heard and what not.
I have a portion of it that definitely inspires. It definitely comes of age and it focuses on inspiration. It focuses on the learning, it focuses on the story telling and it focuses on that I’m a product of my behavior. I’m a child of God and a product of my intelligence and life. And my life is not just rolling along doing what people tell me to do. I make intelligent choices, and [contrary] to popular belief, this is a statement of God’s hand in my life. So in theory that’s what any author hopes to say to his audience. I just hope somebody gets that. I don’t want people to pinpoint one page and say, “Oh, no she didn’t.” Then it becomes someone feeding into something–like the YouTube thing. That wasn’t even what it was supposed to be. That was a trip that went all wrong, and I spent all this time trying to recover. That’s another thing … You have to be careful with what we choose to say to the public.
On working on ‘In the House’ with LL Cool J and Debbie Allen
It was a growing experience. It was a very nurturing growing experience. It was almost like being one of the Cosby kids. For me it was like –-there were moments, for example, when Debbie Allen used to take me under her wing. Her and Norm Nixon used to take me to the theater in their Rolls Royce or their Bentley, and we would eat at Mr. Chow’s. It was fabulous. She taught me so many things about networking. I learned from a queen about networking. She would take me out with all her investors who would be old farts. It was great and she taught me a lot. She took me to the ballet.
Then, Todd [LL Cool J] of course we would be on a ship going to Mexico overlooking the ocean and he would say some of the most prolific things while they were setting up the lighting and cameras on us.
A lot of things that they said I will never forget. These are the people that shaped my life and young mind as an actress. I can’t reach out and touch them anymore, but in my mind I can sometimes go to places where it comforts me to know that I was once in the same room with these people. I know they live lives that people dreamed of. They reached their dreams, and that’s a good thing for some people–and to do it it safely and not have any drawbacks … I saw him [LL Cool J] on the Hip Hop Awards, and he still has the same mind in tact. One thing my grandmother says, “To reach the top and still have your mind in tact…”

My child’s father and I have been in a relationship for almost five years.
We met sophomore year of college. He was fresh out of a break up with his high school sweetheart (who was known for sleeping around with girls). They were the ‘it’ couple. They’d been dating since they were 13 years old, when suddenly they broke up. That meant he was on the market. So, I basically threw myself at him, and him being a guy he jumped at my offer. While he made it clear in the beginning that he and his ex had history and if she ever wanted him back he would end our tryst. So, me not wanting to give up the d**k got pregnant. We began a relationship and I noticed he was very distant and not as lovey as I had seen him with his ex, so I began searching emails, text…etc. And, everyday these two were communicating telling one another how much they love each other and they’re gonna be together one day when I’m outta the picture.
Well, apparently that was true because I went into labor the day before her birthday and he showed up six hours late because he was at her party (she didn’t even know I was in labor).
Fast forward a few years. I’m still snooping and I keep finding pics of him and her, recent ones at that, in his phone. They text at least 150 messages a day. He spends holidays with her, buys her expensive gifts, and I can’t even get a birthday card. He is a great father to my daughter, but a lousy boyfriend to me. I feel second best, and when I confronted him about his behavior he replied, “I’ve known Jamie (let’s call her that) since I was 6 years old. I’ve loved her ever since elementary school and it’s not going away. She will always have my heart. Somehow, I just got stuck with you.”

He wanted the rent money and she wouldn’t give it to him so he got some lighter fluid and poured the lighter fluid on her and lit her on fire,” said Matt Macon, who has a daughter with Lawson. Macon said luckily a woman was waiting nearby at a bus stop and heard Lawson screaming.
“She has the baby hanging out the window. She throws the baby and miraculously this woman is there to catch the child,” Macon said, adding the woman happened to be waiting at a nearby bus stop when it happened. Then Ford lit Lawson on fire and she also jumped form the second story window, police said. A woman, who identified herself only as Lawson’s cousin, was clearly upset as Fox 8 News spoke to her outside the apartment. “She’s just, she’s doing fine and she’s good and she’s healthy and she’s good. The baby is fine,” the woman said.
Family members said Lawson suffered burns to her back, neck and has a broken arm from the fall. The baby was not hurt. Ford was caught by police about five hours later after a massive manhunt.

They don’t allow you to PCS, go to your next duty station if you’re overweight. A friend of mine (male) got Lipo $3500 Aqua Lipo because he was overweight and couldn’t go to Fort Benning, GA. How do you find about your Tax REturn on the IRS website anyone?

How about I heard that our local IRS office here was doing tax returns for free rii? I even called to verify and the voice recording to the OFFICE THAT I WAS PLANNING TO VISIT verified that they do complimentary tax return filing on Wed/Thurs only, starting at 8:30 a.m.
I went yesterday at 8:45 a.m….line was HELLA long..still I stood there for like an hour…noticed the line not moving and decided to go back this a.m. XTRA early.
So I arrive there at 7:06a.m. was already 6 folks ahead of me….stood outside in the Cali-cold until 8:58..got up to the counter …and this cross eyed (I kid you NOT, cross eyed) IRS dude says “THIS office isn’t equipped to perform that service yet…and we won’t be until next week..maybe. Try back then!”
Hunnnnnnnnn-tayyyyyyyy…
I wanted to slap them eyes back into formation. But this WAS the IRS so I meekly said “thanks.”

The IRS has a crazy cutoff, like 11:26am Wed., or something every week. So if you miss that, say you submit at 11:30, you get pushed out.

@AL, next year, you need to do them chits YOURSELF. IMO, as long as you don’t have outrageous accounts full of money and stocks and dividends everywhere, you should be able to complete your own taxes.

Am thinking about going back to school to finally finish my grad degree now that I’ve learned my job has partnered with a couple of universities to offer discounts to us.
The ORIGINAL grad program I was in would’ve cost me $48k for my MBA and 1/3rd of the classes had an “online” option for working students.
At another school my job has partnered with, it would run me about $21k for a dual MBA/MS and all of the courses offered in the dual degree program I chose except for (which I could just take on evenings) are online.
ONE: Should I take advantage of getting my Masters’ for 21k? Is that a good investment to rack up more loans for?
TWO: Would a MBA/MS really benefit me at this junction in my career or could I get there without it?

Not really sure if ti would benefit me or not. I work in fed so it’s a little difference. I can really just go up the step ladder by switching jobs and most fed jobs just require that you have at least a year of experience at the grade level right before it. It’s easier getting hired from within the govt than from outside so I’m just not sure.

WHERE: I am a GS-12. Fed only goes up to GS-15 before you get into “SES” and Congress. I guess “there” could be a GS-15 in about 10 years, but right now, I would just like to hit GS-14 by 30 which could be done if I chose my next job correctly.

As a holder of a MBA, I say go for it. In the words of my mama “Education is something that NO ON can EVER take from you”. ESPECIALLY if there’s a discount involved.

First u can’t beat a masters for $21k so I would definitely say jump on it. Even if its just for personal gain.
However, the market is flooded with non experienced graduates. So your experience and your undergrad. might be more relevant/beneficial than the Masters at this point.
