Excitement for the London Summer Olympic games is already heating up. The games begin July 27, and fans of the NBA champs Miami Heat, and the OKC Thunder, can’t wait to see their favorite teams join forces on the men’s Olympic basketball team.

Two U.S. sprinters have already set a precedent for determining the winner of the 100 yard dash trials. Olympics officials may toss a coin to determine the winner of an incredible too-close-to-call finish during the U.S. Olympics trials.

Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh both crossed the finish line third in the same 1000th of a second — 11.068 seconds — and even a photo finish couldn’t determine the 3rd place finish.

Until Saturday there was no protocol set for a close photo finish where a winner could not be determined. U.S. officials could ask the athletes to run another race or toss a coin.

If a coin toss is chosen, Felix (right) would choose heads or tails first because she is the higher ranking athlete.

Officials said they would not make a decision until the 200 yard dash trials on Thursday.
