Ray Allen is a class act. After the Miami Heat defeated the Boston Celtics to advance to the NBA Finals, Allen was one of the few class act players who remained on the floor to congratulate the Heat.
It came as a surprise to the Celtics fans when Allen signed a contract to help the NBA champs defend their title next season.
Just to show there are no hard feelings, Allen took out a full-page ad in Sunday’s Boston Globe newspaper to thank the fans who held him down for all those years. The text of the ad — which cost Allen a little over $5,000 — reads:
Dear Celtics Fans, for the past five years, my family and I took great pride in calling Boston home. We have loved living in this city, being members of the Celtics family and being part of your community. These memories will be cherished forever. From my heart, THANK YOU Boston for this incredible journey. Ray Allen #20.
