Dear Sandra,

After reading your post on Gabrielle Douglas, I was compelled to write to you (once again). I do believe that you hit the mark with your scathing criticism of those who are so focused on her hairstyle, that they overlook her awe inspiring accomplishments. However, I disagree with the title of your post, your viewpoint, and those of others who continually lump all black people into one category, one community, etc. which ignores our diversity of cultures, ideas, attitudes, values and beliefs. The various opinions expressed on such egocentric social media sites as Facebook and Twitter only represent a minority of opinions. Please take the time to highlight the small ignorant few instead of titling your post ‘Black Ignorance’ because ignorance is equitably distributed accross all populations and Black people (which includes Africans, African Americans, Afro Carribeans, Cape Verdeans, Jamaicans, West Indians and etcetera) do not have a lock on ignorance. Thank you so much!

All the Best,

Akilah
