A top high school basketball recruit collapsed in court after he was sentenced to a minimum of 3 years in prison. Cameras in the courtroom caught Tony Farmer, 18, mouthing the words “Oh, no,” just before he collapsed as Judge Pamela Barker read his sentence.
Farmer, who is 6-7, pleaded guilty to to kidnapping, felonious assault and other crimes, but the basketball star and his family and friends assumed he would be sentenced to probation.
The judge sentence Farmer to prison, even though his victim — his ex-girlfriend Andrea Lane — asked the judge not to send Farmer to prison (watch video).
“I know he was a good person,” Lane told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I hope he still is.”
Farmer’s family and friends sobbed and gasped out loud when Farmer collapsed to the floor. The stern judge snapped: “I’m not finished,” as deputies escorted crying family members out into the hall.
Video cameras caught Farmer assaulting Lane on tape last April in the lobby and parking lot of her apartment complex, according to Yahoo sports.
The 3-year prison sentence ends Farmer’s promising college basketball career.

Of course they thought that. Athletes always get off easy, starting from high school, through college and Pros. I am glad the judge is a no nonsense judge. He should have thought about it before he acted. That pic looks like his life jsut finished flashing before his eyes.
I agree, he should be punished but clearly the judge is trying to send a hard message. Maybe he can appeal the decision or just go in and be a model prisoner and see if she will lighten the sentence on review in 180 days.

Neighbor Melanie Troutman says she saw 33-year-old Chevonne Thomas sitting with her boyfriend in front of their Camden home about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. Troutman tells The Associated Press that the woman was “clearly upset.”
She says the boyfriend led Thomas back into the home a short time later.
Police say Thomas apparently decapitated Zahree Thomas and put his head in the freezer before calling 911 just after midnight Tuesday to report something had happened to her child.
Court records show Thomas faced dozens of judgements and liens filed in civil court in New Jersey dating back to 2002.
Authorities say Thomas had regained custody of her son just five months ago. Prosecutors say she lost custody in 2010 when she allegedly left the boy unattended in a car. At the time authorities say she admitted to having smoked marijuana laced with PCP and blacking out in a park.

I don’t feel bad for him, just watched all the related videos and the way he kicked her butt and continued to violate a ‘no-contact’ order – he deserved the sentence. The judge seemed very fair in her ruling, stating that he was not remorseful for his actions & this chick was traumatized by this ordeal. Just because he’s an athelete does not excuse him from any act of violence punishable by law.

The judge was harsh because she said he was NOT remorseful after his initial arrest. Then he added fuel to the fire by sending threatening texts to the victim even after he was arrested and on top of that he violated a NO CONTACT ORDER which means he did not respect the law. We also have to keep in mind that the victim was saying not to hit her and she retreated. She was not threatening him nor was she being agressive. If a no contact order had already been issued then apparently there had been documented violence against her in the past. So the judge gave him the 3 years and that was that.
Nicca knew what his sentence would be when he took the plea deal…

Im sorry but i believe a. REAL MAN should NEVER EVER EVER EVER put his hands on a woman in a violent way with very few exceptions… but I also believe in 2nd chances. So if i were his father id have made him understand the error of his ways. As a judge though if he had never been in teouble prior..and if the victim wasnt concerned enough to want him in jail i would have given him probation with ALOT of relevant community service ie working at a battered womens shelter..maybe working at a morgue etc plus made him seek counseling. With no priors or other people stating hes done things like this before why would you ruin his life? I mean basically he went from going to college to either get a degree or go on to the nba and with this one hiccup being a possible role model to just being another young man in prison with a bleak..at best.. Future. So if you can teach that lesson but still give him a chance for a future why would you nit? I mean hes on probation so if he sctews up in any way it gets revoked and now hes in prison. Then hed have screwed up got his 2nd chance and screwed up again. I believe in punishment and if he has been in trouble before … if he hadnt but this was just a really horrible life altering crime…or hell if the girl was just scared for him to be out fine but if none of these things are true (and idk they may be) then i just hate to see a kids life ruined.
