A 23-year-old Dallas mother who was frustrated by her toddler’s potty training session was sentenced to 99 years in prison for gluing the girl’s hands to a wall and beating her into a coma.
During closing arguments on Friday prosecutor Eren Price displayed photos of the apartment where 2-year-old Jocelyn Cedillo was glued to a wall by Elizabeth Escalona. “We have to imagine what it was like,” said Price.

Elizabeth Escalona, the 23-year-old mother of five who admitted to gluing her daughter’s hands to the wall and beating her as potty training punishment, has been sentenced to 99 years in prison.
Defense attorneys said Escalona needs anger managment and treatment. And painted her life as a miserable life of abuse, drugs and nothing normal.
Jocelyn suffered bleeding in her brain, a fractured rib, multiple bruises and bite marks, and was in a coma for a couple of days, a doctor testified at the sentencing hearing. Some skin had been torn off her hands, where doctors also found glue residue and white paint chips from the apartment wall.
