UPS Worker Caught Stealing iPad

A Houston UPS worker was caught on video stealing an iPad Mini that was delivered earlier by a Fedex employee.

The iPad Mini was intended for Al Alverson’s daughter. But UPS denied the theft ever occurred — until Iverson uploaded the video evidence to YouTube.

The video, obtained by KHOU11, showed the Fedex driver delivering the package containing the iPad at 9:45 a.m. The UPS worker arrived at 1:15 p.m. with another package. He rang the doorbell and then walked away. The UPS worker returned about two minutes later and picked up the package containing the iPad. After studying the package’s label, he tucked the package under his clip board and left.

Iverson complained bitterly to UPS about the iPad theft, but UPS denied the theft had ever occurred. Alverson told KHOU11 that UPS contacted him shortly after he uploaded the video to YouTube.

“I got a call.. and they were very helpful. They promised they would give me an iPad replacement,” he said.

UPS spokeswoman Natalie Godwin in Atlanta told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Friday that the UPS staffer was a seasonal worker. She said the unidentified worker was fired Thursday. He was arrested by the Harris County Sheriff’s Department in Texas.

“Every year, unfortunately, we have criminals who follow behind the UPS delivery trucks,” Godwin said. Apparently the criminals are driving the UPS delivery trucks, too.
