Anna Burns Welker and Wes-Welker

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Walker’s wife Anna Burns Welker wrote is in the news for her Facebook rant about attention whore Ray Lewis.

Upset after New England’s 28-13 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, Mrs. Welker took to her Facebook page to express her frustration in the wake of the media’s shameless fawning over acquitted murderer Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis.

“Proud of my husband and the Pats,” Burns Welker wrote. “By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis’ Wikipedia page. 6 kids, 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!”

About the 4 wives thing; Lewis does have 6 children (five less than Shawty Lo) by 4 women, but Lewis has never been married (how Christian of him). :sarcasm:

Maybe Oxygen will produce a reality show featuring Lewis and all his baby’s mamas after he retires in 2 weeks?

Welker’s Facebook post was quickly deleted, but one soul was able to grab a screen shot of Mrs. Welker’s rant on Facebook (her page is private).

Under intense pressure from the team’s front office (and probably from her husband who has to suit up with Lewis in 2 weeks), Mrs. Welker apologized for her errant words.

She meant what she wrote, but she didn’t mean for her FB post to go viral. Oy vey.

“I’m deeply sorry for my recent post on Facebook,” she said in a statement issued to Larry Brown. “I let the competitiveness of the game and the comments people were making about a team I dearly love get the best of me. My actions were emotional and irrational and I sincerely apologize to Ray Lewis and anyone affected by my comment after yesterday’s game.

She added: “It is such an accomplishment for any team to make it to the NFL playoffs, and the momentary frustration I felt should not overshadow the accomplishments of both of these amazing teams.”
