Season 2 of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta premiered last night. Here’s a little background: Producer Mona Scott-Young is reportedly under pressure to save her empire which has become victim to poor ratings. In a recent interview in Atlanta, that she thought was off the record, Mona defended the public’s perception that her shows were scripted.
She let it slip out that Love & Hip Hop Atlanta was “in its own category”, which one blogger took as a tacit admission that LHHATL is indeed scripted. Mona also hinted that her other reality series (Love & Hip Hop NY) would be cancelled due to low ratings. (The interview took place last month).
Mimi’s friend Ariane will get more exposure this season. She’s the lesbian who travels to the west coast every chance she gets to see her lover. She also allegedly uses her God given talents to hoodwink local ballers out of their hard earned cash to finance her excursions to LA. During one of those trips last year, she came up empty and couldn’t afford her plane ticket back to Atlanta. So she made a phone call to a local businessman begging him for the money. But the classy fellow (who I recently met), and who recently sold his pizza shops for around $50 million, politely declined to lend her the money. I still don’t know how Ariane got back to Atlanta.
Also, I never heard back from Mimi’s fake boyfriend Nikko, which I’m assuming means Mona got to him and reminded him of that little confidentiality clause tucked away in the fine print on his contract. This just goes to show you that the thirst is real, and that people will do anything for fame and a little pocket change.
VH1 blogger has a recap of last night’s season premiere of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta.
Mimi’s moved on! Or has she? Mimi crashing at Stevie J’s place is all fine and dandy until Joseline walks in to find her there. Did you peep Mimi’s impression of Joseline? “She was staying here?” Mimi asks Stevie. Of course she was. “She doesn’t belong around a child. Period.” Stevie reassures Mimi he’s going to check Joseline. And to make sure Joseline isn’t around their daughter, Mimi’s going to start staying at Stevie J’s house. Moving on will have to wait.
Mimi is enjoying her time playing house with Stevie J. Until Joseline walks in. “Hey, maid. I see you got on yo’ maid outfit like you always do,” Joseline says to Mimi. “You s— a– b*tch,” Mimi said. She wants Joseline out. Now! Once outside Joseline leaves, but not without one last jab at Mimi. “She need to come clean my condo. That’s what she need to do.” Stevie J doesn’t leave to go to the studio with Joseline. He stays to feel Mimi’s wrath. “You so far up this h- a– you can’t think straight.” Mimi is fired up in the bathroom. She really blows a fuse when he tells her to stop all the name calling and takes up for Joseline saying she’s not a prostitute. “This b*tch want to call me a maid and everything else and you not gon’ say s—?” Stevie J tells Mimi Joseline was joking which results in him getting bit on the cheek and a glass of water thrown at him. He walks out and leaves Mimi with a “Clean up my room Molly maid.” And she thought Joseline was disrespectful.
Scrappy‘s moved back in with Erica since they’re engaged. Erica’s not feeling Scrappy’s spending habits because how are they going to plan a wedding if he’s making it rain on Gucci, Louis and Polo. “I’m an entertainer. I got my whole swag game down packed.” “Ball on a budget,” Erica suggests. Getting Scrappy to agree on a maximum he can spend a month on clothes was not easy, but Erica worked her magic and got him down from $2,000 to $1,200. Erica just may be running things if these two make it to the altar.
After Shay ran off the stage at the reunion we thought she’d be MIA. But some people refuse to let things go. Momma Dee not being #teamErica doesn’t help Shay move on since she has this false hope she can get back in good with Scrappy. “At the end of the day, he is the prince of the south and I cannot overthrone [sic] him,” Momma Dee tells Shay. But Momma Dee has something up her sleeve. “It is not the wish of the Queen.” Momma Dee is being messy. Asking Shay if she still loves her son and not to give up is a disaster waiting to happen. “Just watch out. Change is a’coming.” Momma Dee won’t stop until her girl Shay is back in Scrappy’s arms.
K.Michelle signed a record deal with Warner Bros. Her upcoming album titled Rebellious Soul is very fitting. Her A&R wants to remember she has to repair her bad attitude reputation. “I’m not the girly R&B artist. It’s not happening,” she told him. “I need to f– with the hood, the streets, I need to be like a female singing rapper, a mix between Fergie and Jesus.” Girl, what? Count on K for the one-liners.
Ariane doesn’t think she has a beef with K.Michelle. She just wants to clear the air and move on. But, “If she want to square up we can. Mississippi will come right up out this thang.” Meanwhile K and Erica are already getting the party started. “Let’s toast to having big butts, and not being sluts.” When Ariane and Mimi walk in things get awkward as K.Michelle and Ariane ignore each other. Ariane breaks the ice by talking to K first, but K is not all warm with her at first. “To hear you were commenting on my life, was not appropriate,” she said. “You hurt me…I forgave you once and it won’t be a twice,” she said. That’s all Ariane needed to hear to end the convo. “Nah I ain’t done talking, I started and I got some margarita,” K said. K.Michelle’s margarita comment had everyone cracking up. Ariane says she wasn’t trying to hurt her, they kiss and make up, all is right with their foursome.
