Serena Williams says it took her “a while” to start feeling comfortable with her ample curves — you know, the curves that she displays so prominently in those scanty tennis outfits.
In an interview with Du Jour, Serena said:
Well, I wasn’t always confident. I just started feeling comfortable with myself about six or seven years ago. That’s why I tell people that even at 25 or 26, it’s OK if you’re feeling uncomfortable with yourself. I was too. It’s normal. I love who I am, and I encourage other people to love and embrace who they are. But it definitely wasn’t easy—it took me a while.
Defending champ and top-seeded Williams, 31, coasted to the 3rd round of the 2013 US Open by thoroughly thrashing Russian tennis player Galina Voskoboeva in straight sets 6-3, 6-0 today in NY.
