An elderly Alabama woman with Alzheimer’s Disease lived with her dead husband’s body for about a month, NBC News reports.
According to the county coroner, Jessie Claude Kirby, 75, of Decatur died of natural causes.
Police made the macabre discovery during a welfare check after family members of Kirby and his wife, Doris, 78, notified police that they had not heard from the couple in months.
2 dead dogs in the home appeared to have starved.

Doris Kirby has Alzheimer’s disease and was unable to comprehend that officers were trying to check on her, the report said. Police had to force their way into the house, where Jessie Kirby was lying in his bed.
Doris Kirby was described as in poor health and was being treated at Decatur Morgan Hospital.
Two dead dogs, who appeared to have starved, were also found.
Dean Hayes, a neighbor who has known the Kirbys for decades, said she had a bad feeling when she saw police arrive Friday.
“Police cars were up and down the road,” Hayes told NBC station WAFF of Huntsville. “To think that all of us live right here, this close, and none of us knew anything about it.”
This is terrible.
My family is having to deal with this disease now.
Why would it take months to check on them tho?

That’s a horrible disease. My grandmother has it and it’s such a shame. She can’t talk and just looks around. She doesn’t know us.

This is so sad… Who isn’t checking in on their loved ones? Did they have family?

Neighbors must not have been that close with them to check on them. I guess maybe that’s why they feel bad?

My grandmother had Alzheimer’s it very hard on the family. Often they become combative in the later stages. My heart goes out to this little lady.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) reported that the man could not remove his penis from the woman’s vagina and that it took the timely intervention of the police to whisk the inseparable lovers from the scene.
The incident was said to have happened at a guest house near the Nana Bosoma Market in Sunyani in the Brong Ahafo region.
An attendant at the guest house told the GNA that the two lovers booked the room for 30 minutes but when their time elapsed, they failed to come out.
He said he knocked at the door but heard some unusual sound from the room and informed some traders in the market.

That’s how they found out. NO one paid the taxes. All her other bills were automatically paid and she had money in her account to cover them for several more months I think. SMH.
She didn’t have any family.
So sad but happens all the time.
I cant blame the relatives or neighbors because working in this field, several calls are made daily to cops to do welfare checks and law enforcement will go but leave if they do not get a response. Police cannot go into a home unless they have probable cause so this had to have been 2nd or 3rd time they were doing a check or the woman actually responded this time.

nowadays we don’t even know who our neighbors are. Don’t know their names or if we were in a police line up could not identity them.
I work in Hospice so this story is nothing new to me. No family no friends or dead beat Fam & friends! SO SAD

In the report it said she was from Germany, and she traveled back home for extended periods of time frequently. Her neighbors were used to her being gone for long period of time, that’s why they didn’t think anything of it…I’m guessing she really didn’t have any friends or fam in the states…

My pops had a friend who died and it wasn’t until he started to rot that is when someone called the cops
Then my aunt died in her apt and was there for like 2 days but people at her job were worried and called to check on her (she was a nurse)when she went MIA so police were able to get to her quickly.
