I am sending you this information because of the impact you have and how passionate you and your rose garden normally are about issues like this. I received this and I thought this would be a great place to share this information, I haven’t seen any other sites address this yet so I thought you could be the first. Here is the email I received below:
On September 8th 2014 many men and women of all races of the United States of America will boycott any establishment not ran by black entrepreneurs. On the 8th take a picture of an establishment you would normally frequent; fast food, gas station, supermarket and tag #BoycottForFerguson.
The Ferguson shooting of a young unarmed black man one week away from college who was immediately vilified has affirmed that now is the time to take a more drastic stand. Let’s begin by tapping the pockets of corporate America and creating a louder voice.
This is just the beginning of our necessary change. Celebrities and politicians have taken an ice bath for awareness; why not address racial injustice through the same outlet. We will continue to march peacefully and protest without rioting and show our support through social media to address issues.
It’s time to realize we all bleed red and the senseless racism, prejudice, ignorance and violence must stop; so let’s all come together and do what our nation was meant to do. One Love, One Fight
This will definitely send a powerful message. It’s what our ancestors did during the civil rights time frames and it helped them to help us.

Not until I find out the TRUTH about what happened that day in Missouri. I think that we jump on the bandwagon too quickly and don’t know the facts before we start protesting. Did a fight ensue? Did the cop call for back-up before it escalated to this point? Did Michael Brown and/or his friend have a physical altercation with the cop? I have no problem with the “black out” but I also want the truth to be told. I’m just not ready to compare this to the Trayvon Martin case.

While I do agree that boycotting was effective during the Civil Rights movement, this is a little different. Industries were boycotted for MONTHS- not just a day. For this to get a favorite reaction, a boycott will have to take place until a change comes about.

If his eye socket was truly injured, show pictures and a medical report. Because if it truly happened, then the cop has a “self defense” motive for shooting. The fact is that an officer is not supposed to take a kill shot unless the perp threatens the officer’s life (charging with a weapon, attacking with a weapon, meanancing with the intent to harm). If an officer fires at an individual 4x in areas that are meant to stall the individual then there is little to no justification to take kill shots unless the perp has a weapon which at no point was a factor in this situation

@Gigi – Actually on Sundays me and my family go downtown Baltimore, every other Sunday and prepare breakfast for children at a church. They church got about 10 pews. YEAP 10 lonely pews. Their is a group of us, that provide educational items through the year for the children in the families.
The church now has a regular attendance, and has received a small grant to continue the program.
It’s not much, but those children they we touch, we hope that we don’t see them on TV.
We involved in many things in our communities, we have three children of our own, but do the best we can.

Now, onto the agenda…..I agree with you on having solutions to bring to the table. I believe many Black people have gotten too comfortable and either don’t believe the struggle is real or feel it’s not personal to them. Blacks as a people have to inderstand that on issues like this we have to come together as a group and convey thru respectful, peaceful actions that enough is enough.
Education of the Black plight for the generations, becoming more communal as a collective people, educating ourselves and each other on politics, getting an education, and learning how to have more respect for ourselves. Blacks must also learn how to endure when tested. We come feom a lineage of strength and perseverance. Needless to say, your post (on point as always) resonated within me.
