A woman who pepper sprayed a Walmart employee while attempting to abscond with a shopping cart full of stolen goods was captured in Florida.
From Atlanta Journal-Constitution:
Florida authorities arrested Kahala Johnson after Duluth police learned she had fled home to Jacksonville Oct. 9 where she was staying with her mother, said Maj. Don Woodruff of Duluth police.
Johnson will be extradited to answer the aggravated assault and shoplifting charges, Woodruff said in an email.
“The victim in this case was notified of the arrest, and she was grateful to know Ms. Johnson was off the streets and no longer posed a danger to anyone, Woodruff said.
Police say Johnson loaded up a shopping cart full of items at a Duluth, Georgia Walmart just before 6 a.m. on Oct. 9.
A female Walmart employee who tried to stop Johnson was sprayed in the face with mace. The employee recognized Johnson from an earlier shoplifting incident.
Tipsters helped identify Johnson after video of her brazen theft was broadcast on local news stations.
