Rapper Nicki Minaj‘s ex-boyfriend Safaree Samuel is enjoying his moment in the spotlight.
Nicki’s former hype man and weed carrier was interviewed by Power 105’s Breakfast Club today.
Safaree clarified that he wasn’t just Nicki Minaj’s hype man, he was “everything” to Nicki.
“Decisions weren’t made without me… that was my soul mate. That wasn’t just somebody I was working with,” Safaree said of his high school sweetheart.
He revealed how he met Nicki when they were in a hip hop group together called the Hood Stars.
The group thing didn’t work out for them and Nicki branched out on her own, with Safaree going along for the ride. “We were friends for like a year and a half, then the relationship started,” he said.
“I could be out here telling a million stories,” said Safaree before slamming her for “trying to pull me down.”
He said he “walked away” from Nicki. “I walked away… I’m the one who packed my stuff and I left, you understand.”
“It just got to the point where the respect was gone,” he revealed.
“It got to the point where I’m your man… I’m who you go to sleep with every night… I’m who you wake up with every morning. It got to the point where I was being treated like an employee instead of, like, her man,” he groused.
Safaree said he didn’t understand why Nicki never claimed him publicly.
He admitted he introduced Nicki to Meek Mill, the gay rapper she’s dating now. “If that’s who she decides to move on with, it is what it is.”
He admitted Nicki hurt him when she sided with Twitter comedian, Lil Duval, who called Safaree a “corny” rapper.
“When you try to pull me down and discredit what I’ve done for you, that’s what’s weak to me.” he said.
Despite claiming he would never disrespect Nicki publicly, he admitted, in a round about way, that she doesn’t write her own raps.
“Everybody gets help, and there’s nothing wrong with getting help,” he said.
He said he doesn’t need Nicki’s money. “Everything, all my cars, is in my name.”
Safaree said he is in a peaceful place now. “Fame and money… you can’t put a price on peace of mind,” he said.
