Critics of VH1’s controversial reality TV series ‘Sorority Sisters’ may have won a victory thanks to their grass roots online campaign to target VH1’s advertisers.
About 50 advertisers pulled their ads from ‘Sorority Sisters’ after fielding complaints from angry sorors nationwide who strongly disapprove of the show’s negative portrayal of sororities.
Now comes word that the show is cancelled.

While there has been no official announcement the latest television schedule shows the final three episodes will all air on Friday January 16th in one block and there’s no West Coast airing scheduled at all.
The funeral service for Sorority Sisters begins at 11pm Friday on VH1 with a repast on Twitter following the final episode sometime after midnight.
Footnote: After I published my post titled Everybody Hates VH1’s Sorority Sisters, someone from Mona Scott-Young’s camp reached out via email to vigorously deny Mona’s involvement in the series. Even Mona knows better than to mess with the sorors.

@Gigi..I didn’t sign a petition and didn’t care what they were doing on the show because I wasn’t watching it. I am not even sure if the people that were on the show are active. I will not let how they act shine on me, as a person. I think what really bothered most people is that they went on the show as a representative of the sorority as a whole (based on how it is promoted and the name) and not as a representative of themselves.
But at our Founders Day program this past weekend we were told that we don’t give out suspensions…we let you go for life..so

No matter if they stayed for 4 semesters or 4 years. The bottom line is Poochie Darionus, as you said, MADE it there period, is a feat in itself. THAT is what I said. In addition to, I also said, a degree if you have one, it makes most folks. Yes everyone who has one, it enriches them in some way. It doesn’t matter to others. Everything is not for everyone. Yeah, her character is questionable for sure, but when I was listening it also seemed like she was really attempting to hold her own with the male comedians in the room and just went for blood. From what she tweeted she said she did apologize to Tiny in private but felt like a public apology was necessary since the initial dragging was public. The whole educated vs non educated debate kinda makes me uncomfortable.
I told you guys I have tried to go to school 3 separate occasions, all 3 times I did mediocre or I failed. I know I am intelligent but I also know the only way I am getting through a long term education program is if I am heavily medicated and not working. At the end of the day I know my mental limitations. But I’ve also had people in my own family try to chit on me because of that.

That’s my problem with this whole situation. Several of the ladies on the show were struggling financially. Their sorors didn’t give a damn about that. All they cared about was the image of the sorority. Reminds me of these trifling a$$ churches. For the hundreth time, this show was not your usual ratchet reality show. All of the cast members were educated and the extent of their ratchetness was made up bougie pettiness. I don’t think the greeks needed to be ashamed of it. What they should be ashamed of is that they sold their sorors a pipe dream about networking and opportunities yet these sistas are out in these streets struggling.

If I offended anybody I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that. Its just that sometimes folks who didn’t get the education try to knock folks that did. With comments like my bank account this, and I didn’t go to school. That’s good for them, but the experiences I had (especially in undergrad) will always be with me. If I had my way I’d be in school forever. I just love learning. No harm, no foul
@Bird…you can’t say the sorority didn’t help them though. All of the programs we have in place to help people….maybe the people they were around were not the people to help them, but to say the sorority didn’t help them is a bit much IMO. but hey whadda I know?

But we have been…. I still se protesters out here. It might not be on issues you may want to see, but people are still moving to change lives whether you see it in the news or not. Media picks and chooses what they want to report on based on if they think it will gain viewers or “taint the water”.

Let me say this specifically to you. I COMMEND YOU for several reasons. First, for knowing your boundaries regarding your health. Secondly, for going to better yourself. You cbose not to feel sorry for yourself and did this while being a FULL TIME mom. That alone is an accomplishment.
What I challenge you to do is to re examine how you view your families perspective. Until they take a quarter of a mile of a walk in your shoes, they can’t begin to understand your struggles. I applaud you for being honest with yourself and educating us, because it may be someone out there going thru the same. You do what is best for BLANCHE, and don’t pay attention to those who aren’t supportive or send negative energy your way.
I do feel that those standards have been long gone from some of the sorority and fraternity people I know. Were they hooking? Selling drugs? I don’t get it

Thanks for the clarification :hugs: this could be said about a lot of organizations and groups. people question the relevance of the NAACP, HBCUs, politicians. So I get it. as a whole we have fallen off. just because that is the case I do not think that we should ignore when people are not acting in accordance with the principles for the organization for which they chose to become a part of. As for what did they do that was so bad… what did they do that was good? positive? uphold the ideals of the org? nothing. there are private truths that we agree to. a higher standard when you are wearing the letters of our organization. and since you appeared on a show under the SOLE PREMISE of being in a sorority everything you are doing is a refection. You are essentially using the name of the organization for shine. they have a right to be like :stop: nah I don’t like that.

I am sorry but I have to say one thing…. There are a lot of people here talking about education. However, the grammar being used here and the fact that it is seen as funny or the norm is astounding. I understand that some things are funny when said in broken English, but our ancestors are turning over in their graves at the way we throw away grammatically correct english in favor of humor. If you know better, do better. Sandra never uses broken English while making a point… Why should we? The ebonics and broken English on this blog is sometimes downright embarrassing. I’m not pointing a finger at any one person I’m just speaking truth. Why can’t we get our points across like the educated men and women we are??????????????

None of those were starring roles in a primetime show so cancelled or not Nene won on that alone IMO. The comments about dark people she made were all good (until she got caught out there) but someone calling her a half breed was wrong. All this says to me is those soro girls went hard to get this cancelled cause if the show continued then the world would see just how trifling these bougie azz bishes really are… I ain’t down with joining gangs of any kind – if I need collective support that’s what my family is for….
I’ve only known two soro chicks and both of them had self esteem issues… they acted and talked like they had their chit together but peel back just one layer and you’d see just how insecure they really were… not saying all are but I question why anybody would want to be hazed in order to gain “connections”….
