Actor Ben Powers, best known for his role as Keith on 1970s TV sitcom Good Times, died on April 6 in New Bedford, Mass. An obituary did not reveal the cause of death. He was 64.
Powers was a standup comedian who made guest appearances on TV sitcoms Laverne & Shirley, Gimme a Break and The New Odd Couple, before landing his Good Times role.
Powers, who played a professional football player on Good Times, married Thelma Evans (Bern Nadette Stanis) in the 3rd season of the show.
Powers’ character Keith had plans to move Thelma out of the Chicago housing projects. But on their way down the aisle Keith tripped over Thelma’s brother, JJ Evans (Jimmie Walker), and broke his leg. Keith’s career-ending injury put an end to Thelma’s dreams of living a lavish lifestyle as a football star’s wife. Broke and destitute, Keith moved in with the Evans family for the show’s final 2 seasons. Good Times ran from 1974 to 1979.
Powers’ TV wife wrote on Facebook, “My condolences goes out to the family of Ben Powers who past [sic] a few days ago. He was a great actor and great friend who is gone too soon. He will be missed by many. Until next lifetime my friend.”
Powers’s funeral is set for May 3 in Rhode Island.

He even threw in the Statue of Liberty and it's inscription. And he even spoke of the statue Collasseous Rhodes (sp).

J.J. creates and sells the character “Dyno-Woman” to a comic book publisher (modeled after Thelma). J.J. is getting his own “pad” too. Thelma announces she’s pregnant, just in time too, for her husband Keith has learned he can play pro football again because his broken leg has completely mended. He’ll also be signing with a major NFL team. Neighbor Wilona gets a new higher paying job that will allow her and daughter Penny to move from the projects. Michael,already in college,decides to move out and live on campus and continue his education. Thelma and Keith will be living in a great apartment in North Chicago but insist that Florida come live with them to help care for Thelma’s baby. In great co-incidence,it turns out the building they’re moving into is the exact same one Wilona and Penny will also live in! Florida & Wilona laugh and cheer at this wonderful news and end the series with a hug.

hubby has co worker. Co worker alluded that we should do trade babysitting. :stop: Hubby like we good. Co worker asks can we watch his kids FOUR TO FIVE HOURS for his birthday. He was like I could pay you, exchange sitting. Hubby was like i will let you know. He asks AGAIN! Hubby was like we are busy on the weekend. Which we are. Hubby tells him we can do it maybe 1st of May for a couple of hours. He like I’ll let you know.

Am I unreasonable? Should you be choicy when getting free services. Is it unreasonable to ask someone to watch your child that long? Keep in mind I’ve meet him and his wife once. This same dude wanted to carpool with my husband. No chopping in with gas, ten minutes out the way, yet she it was his turn, he asked hubby to come to his house. Sir. Hubby was like bye ashy.

I really like Demetria…but they can fit so many people on at a time. So, it seems to be battle now each season for who can bring the most heat to win a permanent spot. Claudia won!!! Meant other people’s role got diminished. Just my opinion.

Claudia seemed so much more tame than her days on Jamie Fox’s radio show. So, I was surprised to see her kick in the door to that show. Demetria being a real actress, singer, etc…I was ready to bet money her getting the Peach. Glad I didn’t bet.

It’s always funny when I these shows and knowing the stuff that doesn’t get aired. Like they may not have been filming but I attended a launch party for Peter’s coffee brand. The coffee was good. The event was nice but I got there super late. Cynthia and Claudia were chatting and kicking like they genuinely like each other.

I always say this stuff is SUPER scripted. Folks be fakin fights/dis-harmony for the cameras. And b’cuz the producers wanna “spice it up.”
At the very least..I think the producers “suggest” that so-and-so set up a meeting with “this-that & the other.”
