Atlanta police are searching for a gunman who fatally shot a father waiting at a MARTA bus stop with his 3-year-old daughter.
Dantavious Chatman, 31, was shot several times at a MARTA bus stop just before 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Police say the gunman drove up, got out of his car and shot Chatman, then got back into a car and drove off.
Chatman’s daughter, Dakayla, was not injured.
The toddler’s grandmother, Veronica Tuggle, told Channel 2 Actions News that Dakayla was trembling when she arrived at the bus stop to pick her up.
“She said, ‘My daddy just got shot,’” Tuggle told WSB. “Imagine: A 3-year-old. A 3-year-old?”
Relatives told WSB that Chatman was taking Dakayla back to her mother’s house when he was shot.
He died later at Grady Memorial Hospital.
“What kind of animal would do this in front of a 3-year-old baby?” Tuggle told WSB. “Please tell me. I want to know why. Why did this young man kill my son in front of a 3-year-old? In front of his 3-year-old.”

A 1,200-pound Rhode Island man was hoisted by crane from his Providence nursing home, packed into a modified cargo container and shipped to a hospital on the back of a flatbed truck after the nursing facility, $2 million in debt, was forced to shutter.
It took nearly seven hours Sunday to move Robert Butler just eight miles in a massive operation that began at the Bannister House in Providence and ended at his new home in Cranston.
“This is a patient with very complicated medical needs and it’s required a coordinated approach across state government,” Michael Raia, of the state office of health and human services, told WJAR-TV. “His (Butler’s) care and safety has been our top priority throughout this transport.”
Hopefully she’s young enough that the part of her brain that forms lasting memories isn’t formed yet and she doesn’t remember this when she gets older.

nobody has stated it, but it seems to me that this poor baby, this little toddler, has been exposed to gun violence in the past. I mean shes only 3 and shes stating her daddy just got shot??? shes HIGHLY intelligent as well, but it truly shocks me that she formed her words and structured her sentence as if she was in 2nd grade already!
I hope that she gets the help that she needs to continue her life in a positive way
r.i.p to the young man and sorry the little girl had to go through this but I know I would never be at a busstop after 11pm with my son. He had no business having his daughter out that late on the road.
