Troubled singer Chris Brown is being detained in the Philippines for a 2nd straight day.
Yesterday, gossip tabloid TMZ.com got it wrong by reporting the 26-year-old singer was at the Manila airport and free to leave the Asian nation amid a contract dispute with a religious sect.
The Iglesia ni Cristo, or Church of Christ contends that Brown defrauded them by canceling a planned concert there last year.
Brown’s camp said the dispute was between the church and promoter, John Michael Pio Roda, who was paid $1 million upfront to book Brown for the New Year’s Eve 2014 concert.
The religious group reportedly asked the Department of Justice for assistance in prosecuting Brown. The DOJ told Brown’s people they are basically on their own.
There are reports that Brown even reached out to his homie, President Barack Obama, for help. But rumor has it that Obama is too busy to take his calls.
Maybe Brown should try calling Jay Z and Beyonce? I hear they have a lot of pull at the DOJ.
