The 4-year-old girl whose body was placed in a trash bag and dumped near Boston has been identified. Her name is Bella.

Boston police are earnestly searching for the girl’s mother, Rachelle Bond, 40, of Mattapan, MA, and Michael McCarthy, 35, as persons of interest.

The 4-year-old’s identity remained a mystery for months after she was found discarded like trash on Deer Island near Boston’s Logan International Airport this summer.

The Daily beast reports a family member recognized a computer generated image (above) of the dead girl and called the police.

From Daily Beast:

Officials say the tipster had noticed the child was missing, but each time the person asked Bella’s parents what happened, they replied that she had been taken away by the Department of Children and Families.

Police say they were also able to match the identity of child with the clothes she was wearing: black-and-white polkadot leggings and a zebra fleece blanket.

The child was first discovered in Deer Island on June 25. A woman walking her dog found the 30-pound girl and burst into tears before contacting the police.
