This is the “Clock” Obama Asked Student to Bring to White House

President Obama raised eyebrows by inviting a 14-year-old schoolboy to bring a homemade “clock” that resembles a bomb to the White House.

School officials in Irving, Texas called police after Ahmed Mohamed brought the suspicious looking device inside a briefcase to his school and showed it to at least 2 teachers. One of his teachers was sufficiently alarmed enough to advise Mohamed not to show his “clock” to anyone else.

When the alarm clock went off inside the briefcase, a teacher asked Mohamed to open the case. When the teacher saw what was inside, she sent Mohamed to the principal’s office. The school decided not to take any chances and called the police.

When the boy’s parents alerted the local media, the story went national. The leftist media came down hard on school administrator’s and the police for “overreacting” to Mohamed’s “clock”.

President Obama mocked the school and police by inviting young Mohamed to bring his “cool clock” with him to the White House.

Imagine the outcry if school officials did nothing when they saw Mohamed’s contraption, and then it went off killing innocent schoolchildren?

I’m Muslim and have no problem with them questioning the weird bomb-like clock. What I don’t like is that feeling that it would not have been considered suspicious if it was a kid of another race or religion… If caution is to be taken make sure it’s towards EVERYONE. While I think it’s great to encourage great minds and in no way do I think little Muslim kids are being trained in America to do evil, parents should not be oblivious to how the country views Muslims. While most of us are normal and don’t use a peaceful religion to justify the evil already existing in our hearts, some Muslims ( at least that’s what they call themselves) have ill intentions and have given the rest of us a burden to bear. The parents should have told him to keep it at home and explained how it could be taken and why… The same way parents of young black men should educate their kids about how they need to conduct themselves with severe caution when dealing with police… It’s not right that people are prejudice , but it’s real and we have to act accordingly to remain safe and secure.

I’m fine with checking it all so long as we’re not singling out Muslims. Last I checked more non Muslims have committed terrorist acts in schools. I get the reality of the situation. I’m just saddened because it’s the reality of Muslims in this country to be suspected of being terrorists…. Yes it does. The teachers were actually too lenient. If I were a teacher responsible for other people’s children, I would have cleared the classroom or called an emergency fire drill. Then called the police to check it out. Why are they acting like teenaged kids haven’t shot up schools before. And if it was a bomb and went off? Better safe than sorry.

An apology is one thing. A phone call, maybe a letter. But a White House invitation is an extreme reaction and presidential bias against law enforcement and educators who were in this case doing their job to protect children. An adult didn’t shoot up Columbine. Those kids were building arsenals in the basement for months right under their parents noses.

I know why I said what I did, and why I made that comparison. Do you know how many times Muslims who are doing nothing are stopped because they look “suspicious”. Or that a few months ago there was a white man who lived next door to a Muslim family and shot 3 college kids barely out of high school, execution style in the head because they supposedly parked in his spot. Or the thousands of Muslims being tortured and killed by ISIS in Syria, causing thousands to flee and leave their homes penniless. We worry about these evil terrorists too, because they don’t care for Real Muslims who aren’t with that messed up version of Islam their pushing. No one talks about this because many ppl think it’s ok, because we’re all probably terrorists. I am not saying you feel this way, but just because no one talks about Muslims getting beat up and harassed because of their beliefs in America doesn’t mean it’s not happening. The same way there are far more unarmed black folks getting shot by police then they talk about in the media. And by the way I’m an African Muslim not an “Arab” Muslim ( not that there is anything wrong it’s just a fact) so I know what it is to be a black women in this country. I just don’t have a son and I know there is a different struggle black men must face in this country and can only imagine what mothers must feel worrying about their boys. I know this boy is fine and thankfully no one was physically harmed, but with the way tensions are so high about this issue with security do you really imagine that ppl are not gonna start taking action like Zimmerman. Those who don’t know the difference between a normal American Muslim and these retards who kill for no reason. The media hyping this up doesn’t help either, especially when families are still hurting over the killings of those innocent marine soldiers, or the recent 9/11 anniversary. I’m sorry if you felt I was comparing this particularly story with the slaying of unarmed black men because that wasn’t my intent. An apology from those involved sure. If the clock was safe, then explain to the student what was wrong and apologize for arresting him. You’re absolutely right, the White House getting involved is waaaay waaaay too much. All kids today are extremely volatile, if someone bullies them, brain washes them, or they’re racist, it goes so far and gets deadly quick. They were being cautious and that’s ok, I would be nervous if any kid brought it, although it’s sad that we have to feel that way cuz he was just being creative and wanting to show his work. The world is messed up.

Did you hear about police raiding the home of a black family last year and accidently killing their 7yr old child while she was sleeping. She was shot in the head when they charged in after throwing a flash bang into the room….it was a suspected dope den…. Good morning everyone. Now about up top. I did not read all the comments yet, so if someone already asked this then sorry. But: If the 1st teacher saw it and thought is was a bomb, why did she not call the police then? All she did was ask him NOT to show it to anyone else. So did she think it was a bomb or not? How long was it sitting for BEFORE the alarm went off? And when he finally got to the principal’s office with it, how long before they called the cops and the parents? I’m a bit confused, because if you really thought the thing was going to explode and kill yall, why not from jump call the police? Why tell him to not show it and then do nothing else? If the alarm had not of gone off, would this even be news? Because would that teacher ever had said anything?

He brought it to school to show his teacher and ask for help with it, apparently this isn’t his first invention, so they know he isn’t that type of child. The first teacher commended him on it, but told him that she thought it should not be shown to anyone else as it could be misinterpreted, which shows that she didn’t see him as a threat. When the alarm went off and the other teacher asked him to show it to her, he did. That instructor said it looked like a bomb and he told her, “It is a clock. It looks like a clock to me.” When the police questioned him he kept telling them it was only a clock. His parents were not contacted until after he was questioned. We don’t know what the clock looked like, prior to the police taking it and taking it apart. The picture up top is the clock, after it was taken in as evidence. FYI, even after they questioned him and ascertained that it was only a clock, they still wanted to charge him with a bomb hoax, this has since been dropped. Interestingly, kids take all kinds of contraptions to Science Fairs, etc., which contain chemicals and wiring………and look like they are bombs, but they are not accused of this. But, I digress.

He took the clock to the class and asked for help.
That teacher knew it was a clock and that teacher also knew how it would be perceived and told him to keep it in his back pack. The alarm on the clock went off and he was told to turn off the alarm. Once he went to do it that teacher was “scared” at no time did the school go to the first teacher and say “you saw this? He showed it? Did it work like a clock? was explosives attached? Could explosives be attached? ” etc etc etc
Then everything after that violated his minor civil rights. Dillon roof was treated better and that confirmed Terrorist killed 9 people.
We wonder why we have home grown terrorist?
What happened to Ahmed is the same thing that happens to us daily. Inexcusable.

So he took the clock to school to show his engineering teacher. His engineering teacher said that it was nice and not to show it to anyone else. The clock later beeped while the lad was in his English class. The English teacher was alarmed and got the principal involved. I’m sure this child tried to explain to his English teacher as well as the principal that it’s merely a clock and they can even talk to the engineering teacher about it. When not listening to children goes wrong. MacArthur High School may assume a name change to Mohamed High School after the dust settles.

if they thought it was a bomb, why didn’t they evacuate the damn school? they have bomb-sniffing dogs, robots, hell his science teacher even saw it and wasn’t impressed with it. i don’t have a problem with anything they did except carting the boy off in handcuffs and booking him like he’s a friggin criminal. they WANTED to put him in the system and that’s where the problem is. they could have dispatched anybody to come out and look at that device before they put a young boy in their system but they railroaded the shyt out of him hoping to get false confession. it’s friggin sad.

i’m willing to guess that they did question that teacher because then they turned around and said they booked him for something akin to making a “fake” bomb. so after a certain point, they knew it wasn’t real but they booked him anyway for making something that looks like a bomb. they wanted to put that boy in the damn system but they fugged with the wrong one because no resources will be spared to make an example out of this school and police district.

There is a zero tolerance policy in schools nationwide. If Ahmad is so smart he would not have brought this device that looks like a bomb to school. He took apart a regular clock and screwed the components into a briefcase and took it to school. He told other classmates that it was a bomb. Then he told police he never said that. This is a 14-year-old boy who was looking for a certain reaction from his teachers and his classmates, and that’s exactly what he got. Other children have been suspended for making guns out of paper. Race does not play a part in this. The safety of school children comes first!

There is a zero tolerance policy in place that covers anything that looks like a weapon. He had no business bringing what looks like a briefcase bomb to school. I just read one story on CNN and that is not what it said. That is not what the student said. Where did you guys get your details? I don’t want to read a million stories. He got arrested because he was evasive with the police when they questioned him at the school. His response to that point was smart azzed. Clock went into book bag, alarm went off in another class, teacher saw it and felt it looked like a bomb, student told her it was not. The police were called and questioned him…police said, “We asked him what it was. He said it was a clock, He was not forthcoming with any more information, so we detained him.” Um, how about a clock is a clock. If a child brings a clock that resembles a bomb to school but you KNOW it’s not a bomb, how about you take it and keep it in the office then contact his parents and explain to THEM and the child that he should not bring his inventions to school unless asked or given permission to do so. I stand by what I said from the story I read. There was no mention of a teacher or anyone putting anything in a desk. Like I said it doesn’t matter or would’ve mattered what the child’s race was in my opinion. With 9/11 just passing, it has a lot of people on edge. Yes, the teacher based the situation off his last name etc. Lots of schools do not evacuate because they don’t want to cause an alarm but will put a school on lockdown or nothing at all and use the precaution they used.

This is no different than one school miles away from me not notifying parents, evacuating the school or anything after a policeman employed at the school broke up a fight and notice his revolver was missing. After a few hours looking through the school, they told him to go home and check. That’s where he left it but according to the school, they took precaution. I’m not down playing discrimination but like I said if it were me no matter the race I would have probably done the same thing. Notice the word “I”. Since this is my opinion, this will be my last post because I’m not trying to convince you or anyone else to agree with me. It’s just that..my opinion. Sandra, they kept trying to get that boy to admit that it was a bomb and he kept saying that it was a clock. Other students have already stated how involved he was in the middle school robotics program, fixing school projector screens,etc. The engineering teacher should have confiscated the device instead of acknowledging that ‘Ahmad did a good job, just don’t show it to other teachers.’ (I had wondered what the eng. teachers race is but I know for sure that he isn’t muslim. I have heard far and few people mentioning this eng. teacher where circuit boards are common gadgets) I’ve had a bad experience with my daughter about 15yrs ago at the same school when I scheduled a parent/teacher conference to schedule tutoring. To my surprise, the young lady came in, introduced herself and said she was ‘finst’ to call me. I said that I know she didn’t use a scholastic upgrade of the back woods slang ‘fittin. I informed her that I grew up in NY and my mom worked as school secretary for 30yrs and I have never been approached with such a stereotypical term from an educator in my life. I’m here asking for help for my child but your ignorance is an attempt for people to be made to feel inferior, and it’s unacceptable. They made an attempt to attack this boys psyche which should be obvious since they made no attempts to vacate the premises of students, denied him access to his parents, attempted to get him to sign a written statement with a threat that if he didn’t he would be expelled, and lastly keeping the ‘bomb in the school and police car without calling the bomb squad. Racism at it’s finest.

Wiser Words2, I’ve been following this zero tolerance thing for 20 years now — I used to put out a youth-related publication — and it’s clear to me that kids of all races and religions have suffered from it. It’s not a minority race or religion thing — it’s an AGE thing. It’s a school thing.

Not saying it’s *impossible* that there was an anti-Muslim or anti-black element in the school’s reaction in this case, but it is certainly also possible, from my observation, that there wasn’t any.

When I read the report, all I read is that the clock looked suspicious, not the kid. The fact that he was Muslim was the icing on the cake. It very well could have been, though. Either way, it’s about safety for all involved. If I had a child in that classroom and knew the teacher didn’t report something that didn’t look right, I’d have some strong words.
