Barack and Michelle Obama Sing Happy Birthday to Usher

President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama surprised R&B singer Usher Raymond by singing a belated “Happy Birthday” birthday song to him at the White House. Usher and his wife Grace were attending a benefit performance at the White House on Saturday when the first couple broke into song.

The Obamas presented Usher, who turned 37 on Oct. 14, with a cupcake with one candle stuck in it, as if Usher was a pre-schooler.

“Happy birthday, dear Usher, Happy birthday to you.” the Obamas sang.

“Thank you,” said Usher politely before blowing out his candle.

He looked humiliated, and I can’t blame him.

It was a nice gesture, but the cupcake was entirely inappropriate for the president of the United States to present to a grown man.

Imagine Barack and Michelle presenting a cupcake with one candle to George Clooney or Arnold Schwarzenegger.
