Sat up and watched all seasons in a week…i was unemployed at the time.

I get how some don’t like the show. Too many guests, unrealistic plots, fast paced as hell. I get it. But I personally enjoy it because I can accept it for what it is. A prime time soap opera. As The World Turns mixed with Falcon Crest. (damn I’m showing my age) No different than Young & The Restless, Bold & Beautiful, or Guiding Light. I mean how many brothers and daddies did Reeva Shane sleep with and have kids by. How many kids were 6 years old on Friday and by Monday they were headed off to college. None of those shows were realistic, but people stayed glued to their TVs everyday. I know Mama Peaches had the TV on lock and dared a MFer to touch it.

I agree….and that, my dear, was precisely my fear at the end of last season! This person (alleged celebrity) want ‘in,’ that person wanted ‘in.’ Just too much going on and not staying true to the main characters with QUALITY writing and plot lines. SOOOOO disappointing (so far).

The powers that be over at Empire, are truly” jumping the shark” this season. The unnecessary cameos , the extremely fast pace of the show. Lucious has only been in prison 3 months, let him suffer some. The new season starts , and he’s out of prison in the second episode. Really! And don’t even get me started on the ridiculous rap Lucious performed. Jamal is now grimey , this happened over night. This show is moving too quickly.

I love the fast pace. Folks can always watch the Haves and the Have Nots if they want a storyline dragged out for multiple seasons. Quick resolution works for me.

I’m enjoying it. It’s all over the place, but it always has been. I like that they are keeping the same formula.

I think the cameos are Fox’s fault. They didn’t learn anything with American Idol. A parade of stars have never done anything for a show. It was good last season with a bunch of unknowns in the cast. Later for the cameos. I wish someone would get that through their skulls. With that said, I thought it was well balanced last night. Much better than the premiere.

I think the problem is that it’s stereotypical “black,” and further inhibits blacks from doing other roles that aren’t typecast. You have someone like Taraji Kenet who has played a lot of amazing roles being reduced to the ghetto bird ABF trope which unfortunately is often seen when white Hollywood casting directors (shouts to Matt Damon) cast actors for roles.

I will say it’s less of an issue now because we are finally starting to be represented in many different lights with shows like Scandal (although that got crazy and I quit that too); HTGAWM (found this one confusing though well acted); and Blackish. And we now have Rosewood and Minority Report although I don’t see the latter going past a season.

I’ve also noticed there seems to be a recent spike in injecting black females into white washed shows usually with said female in an interracial relationship. I don’t mind it so much but I would really like to see more tv shows where there are black couples to fight this myth that most black fathers are not in the home.

Bird I can tell the writing has gone down a bit according to my screams. I scream 1-2 times compared to screaming all last season.. I just wish they pick up the pace and the part we can predict what going to happen next.
II am still a ride and die for Empire because we can count black shows on Main Network on 2 hands.

Empire won’t crash because it’s all about money anyway and last time I checked it’s still #1 in viewers. Most shows with guest appearances usually do good. Martin did great for years with 100’s of guest appearances
