Empire star Taraji P Henson graces the November 2015 issue of Essence. She looks great for 51 — except that she’s 45.

So why does Taraji look so old on the cover? It’s probably due to the thick layer of makeup and foundation packed on her face.

Taraji’s makeup was probably applied by someone who has difficulty mixing hues for Taraji’s skin complexion. The end result makes her look like Rupaul’s older sister or Laverne Cox’s auntie.

Taraji’s interview confirms your worst suspicions that she is letting her little ‘Empire’ success go to her head.

“I’m just gonna keep amassing an audience,” she told Essence. “Everything was strategically planned. This is what all my efforts are for.”

Someone please hand Taraji a slice of humble pie. She acts like she won an Emmy or an Academy Award or something. Viola Davis she is not.

Taraji paused to drive a knife deep into the backs of today’s reality TV show stars who think they’re all that too.

“These kids are thinking they can do reality TV and come and do this craft that I studied, sweated and grinded,” says Henson. “People forget it’s a craft because it’s so pop now… Can they make me believe the words coming out of their mouth?”
