Lee Daniels‘ new ‘Dreamgirls’ inspired scripted TV series is shaping up to be all-gay.
Remember I told you Daniels wanted to transform ‘Empire’ into a mostly gay cast? Well his dreams died quickly as Empire‘s ratings stumbled out of the gate. Empire was so gay centric that rappers attacked the series as being “too gay.”
So Daniels turned to his new project, an as yet untiled series that focuses on Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson)’s younger days as a member of a girl band.
According to the AJC’s Radio & TV Talk, Daniels tapped lesbian actress Queen Latifah to play mentor to the 3-member girl group. Atlanta drag queen Amiyah Scott is one third of the group. It remains to be seen if he can sing and dance.
