Jailed rapper Bobby Shmurda was the picture of stylish excess when he attended another bond hearing in a Manhattan courtroom on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Shmurda, whose real name is Ackquille Jean Pollard, was denied a request to lower his $2 million bail by a judge in Manhattan Supreme Court.
Pollard’s attorneys pleaded with the judge, saying their client was not as rich as the media made him out to be.
Attorney Alex Spiro said Pollard’s worth is only $427,000 — not the $20 million that gossip tabloid TMZ.com claims he’s worth.
Pollard, 21, was dressed casually in a grey cashmere crew neck sweater, black jogging pants, and a pair of red patent leather Bally lace-up sneakers (retail $450).
The judge denied Spiro’s request to lower Pollard’s bail to between $50,000 and $100,000.
Pollard was arrested in 2014 on a laundry list of drugs, weapons and gang-related charges.
Prosecutors allege Pollard is the baby faced leader of a violent Brooklyn gang that is responsible for drug trafficking, gun running and attempted murders.
