Monday night’s Grammy Awards live telecast garnered the lowest ratings in 7 years.

The 58th Annual Grammy Awards drew 24.95 million viewers and a 7.7 rating among adults 18-49, according to Deadline.com. That’s a significant drop in ratings of 9.4%. The lowest since 2009.

The Grammy’s were not without a few scandals.

Rumor has it that Rihanna didn’t perform and left the venue because the Grammy’s producers asked her to give up her timeslot for a “surprise performance” by Beyonce.

Naturally Rihanna refused — and went AWF backstage. That’s why she left. If she had bronchitis why would she even show up for rehearsals?

The 2016 Grammy Awards was a comedy of errors (Bow Wow), miscues (Taylor Swift), horrible singing (Adele), and political correctness (participation trophies).

When a mediocre rapper like Kendrick Lamar (pictured above) walks away with 5 trophies for his rap crap, it’s easy to see why viewers tuned out.

It didn’t hurt that Lamar is President Obama’s favorite rapper.

They say the Grammy people created whole new categories on the spot just to fill their quota of black winners.

Head nod to the Oscar Awards; it’s not too late to do the same thing.

Deadline.com — Compared to the early numbers of the 2015 Grammys (which did not run live on both coasts), last night’s Staples Center show hosted by LL Cool J was down 16% in the key demo. That’s the worst the Grammys have done in the demo since 2009, with which this year’s early numbers are tied. With a total viewership of 23.72 million, last night also markes the first time since 2010 that the Grammys have gone below an audience of 24 million. Last night’s viewership was down 9% from the early results of last year’s Grammys.
