Ingrid Williams, the wife of former New Orleans Pelicans head coach Monty Williams, died from injuries she suffered when her SUV collided head on with another car on Tuesday.

Williams, 44, was driving her SUV in Oklahoma City when another car crossed the center lane and collided head on with her SUV.

The mother-of-five was pronounced dead at OU Medical Center on Wednesday morning.

Three of the couple’s 5 children were traveling with their mother in the SUV when the accident occurred. The 3 children survived the crash with non-life threatening injuries.

The other driver died in the accident. Her dog who was riding on her lap was also killed. A third driver who was involved in the accident escaped with minor injuries.

Monty Williams is now an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA team. The team’s front office released a statement on Wednesday that reads in part:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Monty and his family, and we will support him in every way possible. We know the entire community of Oklahoma City has them in their prayers.”

Deadspin.com — The 44-year-old was traveling with three of her children north on S Western Avenue around 8 p.m. Tuesday when her sports utility vehicle was struck head-on by a southbound car which went left of center. The driver of the car, Susannah Donaldson, 55, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her dog was riding in her lap and was also killed. Mai Nguyen, 59, was driving a third vehicle that hit the car driven by Donaldson. Nguyen was not injured. All parties involved were wearing seat belts.
