Teacher Who Told Student Her Purpose Was to Have Sex and Babies Resigns

Cory Hunter, the teacher who told a 16-year-old female student her “only purpose” was to “have sex and have babies” resigned after the story hit the fan.

Hunter resigned from his position as a teacher in the Greene County, GA. Public School System during a heated school board meeting on Monday.

School Superintendent Chris Houston said Hunter apologized for any “disruption” caused by his behavior.

Hunter reportedly said, “I’m sorry. I quit.”

Shaniaya Hunter, a junior at Greene County High School, has an eye condition that caused her to miss a number of days from class.

After a few unexcused absences, Shaniaya asked Hunter (who is not related to her) if she could take a makeup test. But Hunter allegedly said, “I have been around for 37 years and clearly, you are the dumbest girl that I have ever met.”

He added: “You know what your purpose going to be? To have sex and have children, because you ain’t gonna never be smart.”

Shaniaya told ABC News affiliate WSB-TV that Hunter was known for insulting other students in his class. So she recorded his outburst on her iPad.

“It really hurt me inside,” Hunter said.

teachers are human. i wonder what lead up to this. now i have had some foul teachers but was she talking smart to someone and he got upset about her asking for make up work. why didnt she ask for the make up work in advance if she has medical problems.
this same scene happened in one of my middle school classes. the teacher(female) was mad that the girl set around talking but then asked for make up work. her mother talked to the teacher and the teacher told her the same thing.

School system is a mess. Most districts allow for 10-12 days total absence. So after that amount, no missed days are considered excused absences which is terrible for children with medical emergencies.

Does this mean that we’ll finally stop hearing about this? He was wrong, but real talk, there have been teachers saying crazy stuff for years. And the girl does look lost so maybe this’ll motivate her to excel. Could be a blessing in disguise for her (still don’t think that whoever went to the media about it should have) but there is so much else going on in the world.

I’ve always excelled in reading/writing but have always struggled in mathematics…one time in HS, my algebra teacher said in front of the entire class “I’m about as dumb as her dog”. Smh teachers should not be talking that way to their students. I feel this girls pain.
