Fox TV’s hip hop soap opera Empire picked up where the Fall Finale cliffhanger left off.

After Rhonda Lyon (Kaitlyn Doubleday) was brutally shoved down a flight of stairs, she watched as her assailant, Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey), calmly strolled out the front door wearing a pair of black red bottom flats.

Anika, who is pregnant with Hakeem Lyon’s seed, eliminated the competition for heir to Empire‘s throne by murdering Rhonda and Andre Lyon’s unborn baby.

In the next scene, Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) and his legal goon, “Thirsty” Rawlings (Andre Royo), plot to take Empire back from the conniving Camilla (Naomi Campbell) and her boy toy Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray).

Hakeem defies his mother Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) who orders him to take back his vote that kicked Lucious off the board of Empire.

When Hakeem remains defiant and refuses to take back his vote, Cookie beats him relentlessly with a broomstick until it breaks. She then assaults him with her chain purse.

Lucious and Thirsty hire a group of ex-convicts to “scare” Empire’s board members into withdrawing their CEO nominations.

Hakeem Lyon

Hakeem then names himself Empire CEO by default, thus pitting himself against his father, Lucious, in a strange duel of wits on the very spot where Lucious killed his best friend Bunkie in season 1.

Empire‘s young viewers endured 2 songs by Jamal “the goat” Lyon (Jussie Smollett), who now claims to be ambisexual. “Just because I have sex with, uh, two women in my entire life doesn’t mean I’m straight or bi or anything,” he says in a conversation with his mother, Cookie.

“Sexuality is fluid,” Jamal says. But Cookie reminds Jamal that heterosexual sex is how he was conceived.

Speaking of fluid sexuality, Camilla, who was married to a woman in the 1st half of season 2, is now presumably straight again.

Camilla resumes her relentless pursuit of Hakeem who has other plans to deflower his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Laura (Jamila Velazquez).

I’m not reading this post because I haven’t viewed the episode yet, but for those who care, PLEASE watch Unsung Hollywood featuring Fred Williamson. It really details his relevance in Hollywood, as well as in international film.

We need to see more positive images of ourselves and be reminded of what we are capable of. This man never had a door close in his face, because he was too busy knocking down doors and forging opportunities for himself and other PoC. It is a powerful episode. ??

I’m just sorry I didn’t know how impactful he was when I used to see him.

Upon seeing Black Caesar, I realized that I was born 20 years too late (and probably 4 shades too dark, because he has a penchant for white women – my only dislike about the man). Lol

But his legacy is a great legacy. He is living history.

I love how he made his own rules. You can’t kill me in my movies, I’m the hero, & I get the girl. This man was a powerhouse. College educated, Professional football player, and actor/producer among other things. He thought he could do anything and he did. Powerful episode indeed.

That architecture degree enabled him to craft so many things beyond physical structures. He is one example as to why education, in its varied forms, is so powerful. When a person is educated in the right ways, it truly helps increase their vision.

That’s where my respect for him stops.

He acts like the white women he bedded and briefly married are some prize. But what’s funny is the women who were praising Williamson as a man and as a player in the film and tv industries are all beautiful, accomplished Black women. Margaret Avery is 72 or 73. The other women are either late 60’s or early 70’s actresses who were popular during that era.

Where were the snowflakes to praise The Hammer?!. Perhaps they were Kelly Price level booked. *shrugs*

Folks love to believe that blending races somehow ensures that the products of that blend will be more attractive than those who aren’t mixed. I’m using them as exhibits as to that theory being a full-fledged myth. They are all horrible looking with bad teeth, which is shameful, because their father is nearly 80, with perfect teeth. He is more attractive and physically fit than they are. So much for Darwinism. The white genes f*cked them ALL the way up.

It’s like Halle Berry. BM claim to find Halle attractive, but they never manage to treat her well. I’m not saying the white men treat her any better, because it is my understanding that Gabriel Aubrey doesn’t even like Black people. I can, however, see him using Halle as a come up. And many people won’t see her as ‘black’ because of her being biracial.

Fred Williamson really sat up and said that he went after the things he went after because he knew white folks didn’t want him to have them. Clearly, that meant not only their education, but their daughters. I guess.

The other part of me wants to pull an end of Black Caesar on his Black ass, because of those Beckys. I probably shouldn’t care, but sadly, I do.

I was in tears the other day watching Born Again Virgin. There was a funeral that was the best gd funeral I’ve ever seen. Whomever came up with that idea and incorporated it into the show should be a funeral planner.

At the end of the funeral, the choir sang a song. The soloist busted out, singing, “Roll me up and smoke me when I die…” Don’t ask me why that made me cry for 20 mins, then sing it all damn night, but it did. And she was so nonchalant about it.

1. My stuff is in storage containers, in great condition. I don’t do mold, vermin or anything of the sort. I occasionally post collectibles on IG.

2. I have stuffed Peeps – one large and one small. I got a basket that had the cards in it. I gave the kids the cards so they can play with them. The cards are like “Go Fish,” but with Peeps.

3. I have stuffed animals in every room, save for my kitchen and one bathroom. Whenever I have deliveries, people comment favorably about my setup. *shrugs*

It’s not for everyone, but I like my plushes and I like my home. It is neat, clean and spacious. I can use more sq ft, but it’s a good size.

True story: when I was 8 I read every book in my mom’s little closet library. A lot of the books were college level. If I stumbled on a big word, I asked my mom, “what’s this word?” She would say, “take the book to school and ask your teacher.” My teacher would scold me for reading books way above my comprehension level (I was in the 4th grade).

I notice that the writers/producers are trying to “explain” the gay agenda on the show. Now, Jamal is “sexually fluid” and not gay. Uh-huh. The viewers are down, there’s tweets about too much gay in the show, so they’re cleaning it up?

This ep was OK. It’s not a MUST see TV for me. I could list a lot of WTH? Like WTH is Hakeem doing running a company? WTH is Camila’s wife?

And is Precious getting fewer and less air time? She came in the room and said two words…..Just saying. I still don’t know why Gabby is in the show or what significance her role has. Time to let her go.

Was watching this show Code Black and dude told his brother don’t say ish about this. Ever. Not when you get married. Not to your priest on your deathbed. This never happened and don’t ever mention it again in life. And that is the code to live by when you do foul stuff. If not, it’s going to come back and bite you in the azz.
