A well-to-do Texas doctor was shot to death by her new husband who then turned the gun on himself.
Casey Ross, 43, placed a frantic call to 911 from inside a closet in her San Antonio home after her husband, David Ross, shot her in the head and left her for dead Friday morning.
Police arrived to find David dead in a hallway. They found Casey still alive and rushed her to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Casey’s 2 children from a previous relationship were in school at the time of the shootings. the children, a seven-year-old boy and a 10-year-old girl, are being cared for by family.
Neighbors told the media the couple had been married for about a year. Casey, who was a successful anesthesiologist with her own medical clinic, allowed David to move in with her and her children only after he agreed to marry her.
It was a fatal mistake by the successful businesswoman and doctor who wasn’t content with raising her children alone.

Casey Ross’s family set up a GoFundme page with the goal of raising $100,000 for her children’s education.
“Yesterday, two children lost their mommy. Thousands of patients lost their doctor, and people around the world started grieving the loss of Dr. Casey Drawert, who was a strong, independent critical care anesthesiologist and mother. No one is immune to domestic violence,” the page reads.
