A Georgia high school teacher is in hot water for calling one of his students “the dumbest girl I have ever met.”
Shaniaya Hunter, a junior at Greene County High School, has an eye condition that caused her to miss a number of days from class.
After a few unexcused absences, Hunter asked her teacher if she could take a makeup test. But the male teacher allegedly said, “I have been around for 37 years and clearly, you are the dumbest girl that I have ever met.”
The unidentified teacher added: “You know what your purpose going to be? To have sex and have children, because you ain’t gonna never be smart.”
Hunter told WSB-TV the teacher was known for insulting other students. So she recorded his outburst on her iPad.
“It really hurt me inside,” Hunter said.
“This man does not need to be teaching young children,” said Hunter’s attorney Ben Windham. “It’s not a gray area. End of story.”
“This is about a school system that is failing our children and allowing these acts to go on,” said Hunter’s aunt, Christie Lockhart.
“We’re gonna fight. We’re gonna keep fighting until it’s over. It’s not over yet,” Hunter’s mother, Cathy Wright, said.
