Singer Ciara Harris had to kiss a few frogs before she found her prince charming, Russell Wilson.
Ciara tells Essence magazine that she knew she didn’t want to be a single mother to her son, Future Zahir Wilburn, 1.
“That wasn’t necessarily part of my vision,” she said. “But the moment I realized I was going to be a single mother, I had to reflect and reorganize my thoughts. I decided to trust that God had a plan for me, and move forward one day at a time.”
Ciara, 30, got engaged to her son’s father, womanizing rapper Future Hendrix, 32, who has a tribe of baby mamas and children to provide for financially.
It wasn’t until Future blatantly cheated on her that she finally realized her mistake.
Shortly thereafter Ciara met Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, 27. He wasn’t exactly her type, but she had wisdom enough to know she had to raise her standards.
“I remember telling my friend the kind of guy I wanted: a God-fearing man with a very fun spirit who loves kids and would really, truly care for me,” she told Essence. “I was very specific because I do believe you can have it all.”
The couple are engaged to be married this summer. The star-studded wedding will likely be televised.
