Black Lives Matter activist Charles Wade claims he was only trying to help a teenager find “housing” when he booked a motel room for her. The 17-year-old girl was busted less than an hour later by an undercover officer who answered her Backpage ad for sex.
The Backpage ad, which is still online, advertised “Quick stay specials tonight and tomorrow.”
In a police report obtained by Ddotomen.com, the undercover officer stated he exchanged text messages with the female who asked if he was a cop or a pimp.
The detective responded, “Hell no. I just like nice boobs.”
The detective was directed to room 412 at a Howard Johnson motel at 9113 Baltimore Avenue in College park, Maryland.
The detective arrested the white female at the Howard Johnson on April 25.
Wade, 33, was arrested the same day and hit with half a dozen charges including human trafficking and prostitution. Wade posted bail shortly after his arrest.
He hastily released a statement on Twitter.com claiming he believed the 17-year-old girl he “housed” in a motel room was 20 years old.
Wade said he used his hotel rewards points to book a room at a discounted rate for the young lady, “as I have done countless times.”
He said the teenager was arrested for prostitution “while I was out of the room and heading to the grocery store.”
Wade said he was arrested because he used his “government issued ID” to book the room.
Wade’s next hearing date is scheduled for June 3.
