The Game Gucci Mane

If you need any more proof that hip-hop is dead, look no further than the first week sales for 2 of the most highly anticipated album releases this year.

Rap honchos The Game and Gucci Mane both dropped much-anticipated albums last week.

But The Game’s new CD 1992 is expected to only sell 27,000 copies, while Gucci Mane’s album Woptober is projected to move only 20,000 units.

Neither album is projected to sell more than 55,000 copies combined!

The latest sales projections follows a lackluster year so far for hip hop in general.

Superstars such as Kanye West and Wiz Khalifa have been forced to tour continuously just to put food on the table.

“Gotdamn, hip hop is in a bad state!” exclaimed DJ Akademiks in a video released on Oct. 18. “I thought these 2 rappers would at least do about 60,000 records first week,” he said.

He added: “That’s not good! That’s a flop!”

DJ Akademiks expressed his dismay at The Game’s poor record sales considering he’s been involved in one publicity stunt after another in recent weeks.

I guess snitching to TMZ.com and pretending to be hard on social media didn’t translate to record sales for Game?
