A Los Angeles judge complimented ’90s rapper Coolio for his tribal-inspired hairstyle during a hearing where he pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon.
Artis Leon Ivey Jr., 53, avoided jail time for bringing a loaded weapon into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).
According to gossip tabloid TMZ, the judge, who is familiar with Coolio, said to him, “You’re a little bit different. You’ve got a different little hairstyle going on here than in the past, but it, you know, it suits you.”
The judge reprimanded Coolio for getting into trouble again, and told him he would serve serious jail time for his next offense.
Coolio has been arrested on various weapons, assault and drug charges dating back to 2001.
He is best known for his hit rap songs “Fantastic Voyage” and “Gangsta’s Paradise”, for which he won a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance.
