President Barack Obama is confident that President-elect Donald Trump was elected fairly.
In a statement released on Friday, the Obama administration stated, “we stand behind our election results, which accurately reflect the will of the American people”.
The statement continued: “We believe our elections were free and fair from a cybersecurity perspective.”
The statement was in response to Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s recount efforts in 3 states — Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.
Stein’s recount request did not provide any proof that the Russians — or anyone else — hacked the election results.
On Monday, Michigan confirmed Trump won the state’s 16 electoral votes.
Also on Monday, the state of Wisconsin denied Stein’s request to recount the votes in every county by hand.
Stein says she will sue Wisconsin to force a recount by hand.
But she will have to prove to a judge that voter fraud took place in Wisconsin.
