Rapper T.I. Harris has appointed himself the spokesman of hip hip’s disaffected and disillusioned youth. In a series of angry videos, the 36-year-old father-of-7 slammed Kanye West and other African-American stars for meeting with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump.
T.I. expressed his outrage over West meeting with Trump for a photo op at Trump Tower last month. “What the f*ck you doing, man?” he said, directly addressing West in one video on Instagram.com.
Kanye will not travel to Washington, D.C. to perform at the inauguration celebrations in D.C. on Jan. 20, a source confirmed to PEOPLE.com. The insider added that “Trump’s people never even asked” West to perform.
In an Instagram video T.I. called on influential black celebrities to refuse meetings with Trump, claiming the interactions were part of a “Willie Lynch” agenda to divide African-Americans.
Using fear tactics, T.I. said: “I’m going to tell all you celebrities – black, minority, all of you man, athletes. Let me tell you something: there’s a strategic plan that people are trying to make you a part of,” he said. “Do not accept any invitation or have any meeting no matter how positive you think the outcome may be, without understanding, man, people have a very Willie Lynch agenda.”
The term Willie Lynch refers to a widely believed hoax story of a plantation owner who pitted his slaves against one another.
T.I.’s logic is fundamentally flawed. Are black celebrities supposed to ignore the president of the United States for the next 4 years? T.I. uses fear tactics while offering no specific proof to back up his claims of a Willie Lynch agenda by the Trump administration.
