NFL player Michael Oher was portrayed as a gentle giant in the mostly fictional feel-good movie The Blind Side, starring Sandra Bullock. But the real Michael Oher is a far cry from his fictional character.
Oher, 30, was quietly arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault of an Uber driver last month in Nashville, Tenn.
According to the police report, obtained by gossip tabloid TMZ, Oher pushed the Uber driver to the ground and kicked him in the leg during an argument over a fare.
The unidentified Uber driver was transporting Oher and four friends to a restaurant in downtown Nashville on April 14.
The driver told police that Oher asked him to follow another car. Along the way, the driver suggested he take the lead, saying the other driver didn’t seem to know where he was going.
But Oher reportedly believed the Uber driver was trying to make more money, according to WKRN.
Oher and the driver began arguing, according to a police report.
When the Uber driver stopped at a convenience store to allow two passengers to use the restroom, Oher allegedly got out to confront the driver.
Oher allegedly shoved the driver to the ground and kicked him. 2 passengers in the car got out to hold Oher back.
He turned himself in on Monday, May 8, and he was booked and released. He is due in court next month.
