Former President Barack Obama inadvertently confirmed the sex of Beyonce Knowles‘ twins on Thursday.
Obama, 56, let the cat out of the bag during a video message that was aired at Jay Z‘s induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame at the Awards Gala in New York City on Thursday, June 15.
Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, missed the ceremony to be with his wife, Beyonce, who was hospitalized this week with complications related to her high risk pregnancy.
In the videotaped message, Obama said “Jay and I are also fools for our daughters although he’s going to have me beat once those two twins show up.” Obama added, “Jay you have been inspiring in making me want to be active in my retirement just like you’ve been in yours.”
The Carters have remained tight-lipped about the sex of their twins, who were conceived via In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mother, was among the celebrities congratulating the aging rapper on Twitter.com.
“Congrats to my amazing Son in law on this very prestigious award. Not only does he have 21 Grammys but now he’s being inducted into the songwriters Hall of Fame! Go on Shawn Carter (damn spellcheck) with your bad self !!”
