A 16-year-old South Division High School student is behind bars after he punched out his teacher in front of fellow students on Tuesday.
The unidentified student is seen on cell phone video punching his male teacher to the floor in front of giggling classmates.
It isn’t clear what initiated the confrontation but the teacher walked away from the boy as tensions escalated. The student pushed the teacher then lunged at the teacher and knocked him to the floor.
The teacher suffered non-life threatening injuries. The teen was arrested at the school but he was not charged. Police are considering a battery charge.
A Milwaukee Public School spokesman declined to comment but he said they were cooperating with the police investigation.
