Atlanta Hawks star guard Dennis Schröder was arrested Thursday on a misdemeanor battery charge, WSB-TV reports. Schröder was charged with assault and battery in connection with an incident that took place Thursday morning in Brookhaven, a suburb of Atlanta.
The Atlanta Hawks’ Senior Vice President of Public Relations Garin Narain released a statement to Channel 2’s Sports Director Zach Klein:
“We are aware of an incident involving Dennis Schröder earlier this morning. We are still gathering information as it pertains to the situation, and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”
Schröder is pictured above center at the African wedding of his mom, Agifatou Schröder, and his new stepdad.
The 24-year-old German native was named to the NBA’s Top 100 Players list last week. He averages 17.9 points and 6.3 assists as a starter for the Hawks.
