Friends of pop singer Katy Perry are calling out Hollywood’s double standards as it relates to sexual harassment. Dozens of women have stepped forward to expose male predators after the NY Times exposed movie mogul Harvey Weinstein as a serial predator.
Sexual harassment is broadly defined as any verbal or non-verbal behavior of a sexual nature.
Singer Katy Perry‘s friends took offense at a photo tweeted out by daytime talk show host Ellen Degeneres that shows her drooling over Perry’s breasts.
This isn’t the first time that Ellen, who is openly gay, has exhibited such disrespectful behavior towards women under the pretense of humor.
Katy’s friends say that if a man did the same thing as Ellen, he would be called out for sexual harassment and objectifying women’s bodies.
One woman posted Ellen’s tweet on Facebook.com and called for Ellen to apologize for her inappropriate sexual behavior toward women.
“Just because you’re a woman doesn’t give you the right to objectify other women,” the friend wrote in an open letter to the 59-year-old TV mogul, who is “married” to actress Portia de Rossi, 44.
