Rapper T.I. Harris, center, is still protesting outside Houston’s restaurants in Atlanta. The 38-year-old music mogul claims the restaurant is discriminating against black people, but he hasn’t provided any evidence of actual incidents of racial discrimination.
In a new post on his Instagram account, the father-of-7 posed with two young men in white t-shirts with the word “NIGGOD” on the front.
In the photo caption, T.I. explained that the young men quit their jobs at the Houston on Lenox Road across the street from Lenox mall.
“These 2 Kings just walked off from their jobs at #Houstons today & joined our demonstration,” he wrote. “They said they did so because they too witnessed discrimination & felt it from patrons as well as the high level staff.”
The hitmaker claims the patrons shouted racial slurs at the former employees as they walked out. Of course, it wasn’t captured on video.
Edit: The two young men worked for the valet company outside the restaurant. They were not Houston’s employees.
T.I. raged:
“[T]hey say the patrons yelled “FUCK YOU NIGGER” & “GO BACK TO POPEYES”!!!! Those racist bigoted patrons WERE NOT ASKED TO LEAVE. Because this behavior is apart of the #HoustonsHillstoneCulture That’s why we’re demonstrating & boycotting!!!”
Not one black person I’ve spoken with can recall being discriminated against while dining at Houston’s. rapper Waka Flocka, whose mother, Debra Antney, started the protests, said he has not experienced discrimination at the restaurant.
Is it fair to boycott an entire restaurant chain — and jeopardize jobs — just because 1 or 2 entitled people felt insulted when asked to conduct themselves appropriately in an establishment?
T.I. says he will continue to protest until Houston’s is shut down. As a result of the ongoing boycotts and protests, Houston’s is now closed on Sundays.
