Bobbi Kristina

Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown fans did not embrace TV One's docudrama about the life and death of their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown. The ratings are in and they are not good.

The Bobbi Kristina biopic aired on Sunday. The storyline picks up after Whitney’s death. Whitney (played by Demetria McKinney) died in a bathtub in a Beverly Hills hotel on Feb. 11, 2012 at age 47.

The biopic explores Krissi’s struggle to come to terms with her mother’s death and her own dysfunctional relationship with boyfriend Nick Gordon (played by Nadji Jeter).

The show also delved into the sometimes strained relationship between Bobbi K and her father, New Edition singer Bobby Brown (played by Hassan Johnson), who butts heads with her aunt Patricia Houston (played by Vivica A. Fox).

The biopic picked up some free press when Brown filed a lawsuit to stop the show from airing. He lost his lawsuit a few days before the show aired.

TV One probably hoped the publicity from Brown's lawsuit would be enough to boost viewership. But unfortunately, only 660,000 people in the entire United States tuned in to watch.

Bobbi Kristina ratings

  • E-VannaRootsAllEvil

She ain’t been in the ground long enough to do a biopic

  • klwbaby

It wasn't the best movie but it was OK. It was 100 times better than that reality show that Pat Houston was trying to get Bobbi Kris to do.

  • Roderick2011

Why would anyone want to watch a story about such a tragic figure?
Everyone knew that BK wasn't going to live long after Whitney passed.

  • Chile_Pleeze

all I want to know is.. did Vivica play the role as slimy as we perceive Pat to be?..because she is...

  • MookieFly

I dont have TvOne so thank Jesus I avoided this trainwreck.

  • You Could Never

Bc they are wasting money on biopics Im sorry to be harsh but that nobody wanted or needed to see. I dont know anyone personally who watched. I myself forgot it was on.

  • Ny MaGee

Unless you're the BIG BANG THEORY (which gets like, 8 million viewers), most series these days don't reach a million LIVE viewers per episode, cause there is so much content out there demanding the attention of audiences. Your average show these days is lucky if they get half a million LIVE viewers.

  • disqus_DxKO3ThTGI

I had no intentions on watching this movie....Too sad of a tragic story to watch....

  • 100milesperhour

That's like asking why do people slow down for bad car accidents. It's human nature to be curious.

  • MookieFly

Vivica doing everything and anything for a paycheck except act good

  • klwbaby

    She didn't....

  • Tammie Reed

Although I like Demetria and think she has a nice voice, I was just not interested in that show. I guess I couldn't watch it anyway because Tv One is not available in my area either lol. It has to be enough people in my area to request that cable network, welp!

  • Tammie Reed

I know so many young people that don't even watch tv lol. I have NEVER seen my teens sit down and watch anything! They are just glued to their phones, thats pretty much their television now.

  • Ms.Vanilla

Didn't watch because I'm not interested in Whitney's daughter. What has she done to garner my attention?

  • Mrs. ??????????

They shouldn't have made that movie in the first place. Let Whitney and Bobbi Christina rest in peace.

  • Chile_Pleeze

damn... oh well...this biopic must of been backed and financially beneficial to Pat slimy asstray

  • Jorjapeach

It was trash...couldn't watch the whole thing. Sorry I even DVR'd it!

  • tia

    amen E-VannaRootsAllEvil

  • klwbaby

I was thinking she was a consultant or something because they portrayed her a loving person who only wanted the best for Bobbi Kris.

  • tintin

nothing will ever be worse than the Aaliyah movie. worse biopic ever made.

  • klwbaby

I know...I couldn't even watch the entire movie.

  • Oretta Grace Smith

It was one of the worst movies I Ever seen. They should have checked with BET. The New Edition Story. You CAN'T make a quality movie just because of a black name!!!

  • Jen_no_juice

It has to be enough people in my area to request that cable network
    What the What???? Really?

  • Ni Ni

It was very disrespectful to make this movie. I plan to boycott TVone. I thought they were the classy network.

  • xenaD

My can’t miss tv... Big Bang, criminal minds, svu, scandal and now black ish, Is prison break returning? and I miss smallville

  • Oretta Grace Smith

This really was!! I tried to like it!!!

  • Jen_no_juice

Then it ain't a true story

  • cherrypie

Is smallville good? Its been on for years. Been thinking about checking it out.

  • Owww76

Despite the circumstances, it was good. The young lady playing Bobbi Kristina was spot on with her portrayal. Demetria Mckinney had Whitney down with her mannerisms and her voice is great!! The one that should be pissed at this is Nick Gordon, definitely showed him as the greedy abusive user. He was really wanting a piece of the pie after Whitney passed damn shame. Sad story that poor girl had no one she could talk to once her mom died and she latched onto Nick to fill that void but he was just using her.

  • xenaD

Smallville is so good.... maybe they have reruns because it ended years ago but yes it is great!

  • cherrypie

I think its on Netflix or maybe Showbox. I love Shameless, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Blackish, SVU, and Criminal Minds. Never really got into Big Bang. I'm going to check out Smallville. Your not the first person to tell me that its good.

  • klwbaby

I agree...didn't Bobby Brown sister call her out and say she is just money hungry?

  • KarmaBackAround

Demetria mckinney did horrible when promoting this movie..people kept asking why is this a must see and none of her answers were clear or direct..furthermore they DID NOT include any dialogue from Bobby Brown which is messed up being that he is the childs only livin parent and is most knowledgeable on who his daughter was as a person..n lastly why the hell would yall make this a movie anyway..the girl didnt do anything significant other than be born to lengendary all there was to film anyway was her down fall.. What a trash ass one should be ashamed.

  • Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

will folks PLEASE just let this child rest in peace! it's all speculation anyway, since she never had a chance to tell any part of her own story.(and that lil bish boi she was involved with was nothing more than an opportunist who's now probably somewhere doing the skid row stroll, wearing one of her wigs and her eyelashes) FOH!

  • Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

Pat "Undertaker" Houston strikes again, smh

  • Insane Taco Juice

She had nothing to say because the movie mostly was a way to promote her struggle CD. No disrespect but she will always be Janine the crackhead on House of Payne.

  • Carla
  • stav

    So true!

  • Karen Brady

The Bobbi Kris actress did her thang because she sure did irritate me like the real Bobbi Kris (RIP sweetie).. Demetria did a really good Whitney and Nick is as icky as I always thought him to be. Wish we had more of Vivica as Aunty Pat. I guess Cissy said LEAVE ME OUT THAT SHAT!! NOT a great movie at all but TV One still gets my 2 thumbs up for the Miki Howard Story! :-).

  • Roderick2011

    But every accident is different.

Remember Whitney had a reality tv show with her daughter and everyone witnessed Whitney's downward spiral and the dysfunctional family dynamic between Whitney and BK so everyone knew how it was going to end.

  • Such_a_fn_Lady

The movie sucked but Demetria McKinney played the part of Whitney very well. I was surprised, although I had to remember who she (McKinney) was to begin with. She had her (Whitney's) speaking voice and mannerisms down to a 'T'. Her voice, while it didn't sound as good as Whitney's, was better than I expected.

  • Hair Lova ???

I couldn't. I tried but I could not. I watched like a half of an hour. This made my soul said. We don't know where this information came from. Nick? Pat? So it may have no truth to it. Besides the fact is the girl missed her mother awefulky and couldn't come to terms with it. Fact that Nick is the scum of the earth. Fact her and her father relationship was strained.

What I don't think is a fact is that Bobbi started doing drugs because of Nick, after Whitney died it just become more apparent. Im sorry but I couldn't watch them do this baby like that.

Upside Jeanine had Whitney down. That's all I got for positives.

  • Yoni7

THIS! PP was flipping through the guide and I was like "Bobbi Kristina?" She clicked on it, I saw literally TWO seconds of it and was like "keep flippin'" and walked off. Didn't KNOW it was even one made. For some reason I cannahhh get into any of these biopics. I have never seen Notorious, TLC, The Braxton's, Mikki Howard, Whitney, Bobbi, New Edition....and add more if I missed any.

  • Yoni7

    *wall slide*

  • Yoni7

    Never saw it.

  • Yoni7

Hell, Whitney's body was still in the tub and Puffy and Clive'nem were downstairs doing the Electric Slide and sh!t.

  • Tammie Reed

I don't have WE tv either lol. I don't watch that much tv anyway, it doesn't bother me. I'd rather read a book instead!

  • You Could Never

a way to promote her struggle CD

That shit going quadruple copper you say? Cold Cold whurl man.

  • You Could Never

I still havent seen all of Tupac. And his and Notorious were the only two that went to the big screen. I saw the Toni Braxton one JUST past month or so. All others I was fans so saw it. New Edition one BET gets hats off for. It was A one. It was better than the ones that went box office lol. If you ever DO decide to see one, start with that one

  • Yoni7

See, why did I think Notorious was a BET exclusive? Then somebody mentioned Aaliyah, was that the one that Wendy Williams had her hand in? Didn't see that one either. I need to take one thing back.....I DID see Straight Out Of Compton, and I liked it, if that counts. LOL

  • BacktolurkingIgo

    I tried and I decided that I can't, won't and shant

  • Bri

She's like the biopic was really for her. Smh.

  • Elevated Soul

When I heard about this movie,I wondered "Why would a movie be made on her life"? I see no contribution that she made to society because being the offspring of 2 famous parents, does not quite fit the bill.

Honestly she seemed spoiled and that is what led to her death.I recall how arrogant she acted toward Angela Bassett and I was beyond done with that coke head.

  • 100milesperhour

Whitney's reality show was one big car wreck that no one could turn off. Huge mistake. Bad idea. I get your point.

  • NeverSurprised

I didn't know about her comments about Angela before reading your comment. Just Googled it and I can't believe how obnoxious and disrespectful she was.

  • Insane Taco Juice

Remember she was on RHOA trying to promote her music and was singing on HOP...and that was how long ago?

  • SouthernGirlAZWorld

    Jeanine!!! I'm weak ?

  • Quitedeliteful

I forgot this was even on TV...

  • Carmen Harrison Johnson

  • SumthinSweeter

I don't completely agree with them putting this on TV so soon after Bobbi Kristina's passing and just the overall tragic ending to her life, but I tell you what, from my end and from watching it on Sunday, whomever played Bobbi Kristina in this made for TV movie looked and sounded just like her. Honestly, everyone did an awesome job except I was surprised that Vivica Fox would take on such a controversial and mediocre role. Playing a nobody nothing ass aunt/sister in-law of a legend seemed like a downgrade to me.

  • Jen_no_juice

  • Ebony Starr

Bobbi Kristina was not a public figure. There are tons of tragic stories of celebrities children, why exploit this one!! It's just sad all the way around! Didn't and wouldn't watch.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

They didn't have to make this. Her parents failed her and she failed herself by not making the most of resources available to her. I make no apologizes for always feeling this way about any entitled kid, including BK. She had an invaluable contact list, a trust fund, and all the means to do whatever she wanted. She chose drugs. She's dead.

That does not a good movie make. Bobby is now with the type lady he should've married. I appreciate not seeing him with NE on tour, phucking up the handsome aesthetic of the group. Ugh.

  • Lorenzo Chaps

Vivica - a check is a check. Vivica's looking at the mortgage on that million $ house that comes due every month.

  • Stacey J

The movie was bad....Demetria McKinney did do a great job in playing Whitney but I got tired of the lack of dialogue and her just randomly singing. It really didn't have a story line just some random moments put together.

  • Gamer?? Chick

I haven’t seen it and I’m still not sure why they thought she deserved a movie.

  • IAmLawlessBrooks

I saw the movie and honestly Demetria did a great job!

  • Lady Elle

Agreed...despite how random the singing was Demetria did a good job playing Whitney. Other than that, that's all I got. The movie was unnecessary and trash.

  • noireyblanca

I didn’t even know it came out.????? But I do like Demetria.

  • MocaPretty

It was too much and too soon. Leave that girl alone let her have some peace dayum!

  • MsVet

Shame on TVOne this didn't need a movie. We lived the events of the poor child when she lost her Mother. Shame on the movie about Whitney as well that angered Bobbi Chris! Make a movie about the racist events that are going on now. Do a documentary about something educational what a waste! I wish her family could sue you broke!

  • SumthinSweeter

Looks like a fast paced trip on the spiral train to D-List celeb station.

BUT yup, whatever pays the bills. She got a half way decent lil wig line too. So yeah she got some multi income revenue options ?

  • SumthinSweeter

It wasn't hers. It was Bobby's. Initially Whitney wanted nothing to do with it. But......

That mess that was in the theaters about PAC was one of thee worst remakes I've ever seen.

  • Rob

If those were excellent numbers for RuPaul‘s drag race, then they are excellent number for TV One. #NoShade

  • 19awesomegrl97

i thought the movie ws pretty good

  • Elevated Soul

Yes.....She was very obnoxious and I was not here for it.

  • Catrina

I didn't like it. Can we finally just enjoy the music again, instead being reminded that Whitney was a drug addict, the woman is dead now.

  • Ladyvil

You said that an I totally agree!!

  • Oya Shango

Worst still, she was Whitney's only heir. Now, her bloodline is gone as well. That is the bigger tragedy.

  • Chuck

The movie wasn't good, but the actors played their roles very well. However, at times, Demetria's voice struggled when she sang.

  • pika12

Maybe BK was wrongfully disrespectful (don't remember her comments), but people like Angela Basset and Vivica Fox are wrong for doing these movies that they full well know Whitney would not sanction if she were alive and the family was against. Of course it's their right to get the checks but they will also get the criticism that comes along with it.

  • InsecureNEVA

I didn't watch but I read somewhere that Demetria McKinney as Whitney Houston was acted well.

  • primadutch

She called the woman a tranny bad a b!+c#...

  • primadutch

The real show is the "Whitney...Can I Live" documentary on Showtime...Baaaabaaaayyyy...It all comes out!

  • pika12

Wow, she went way too far. It's one thing to criticize Whitney's peers who sold her out for money but it's another to strike such a disrespectful blow to an elder.

  • Berry Melon

I felt sorry for her, but I think it's time to let her rest in peace.
