Jennifer Lopez‘s manager, Benny Medina, is the latest powerful Hollywood figure to be accused of sexual abuse. Actor Jason Dottley says Medina tried to rape him at his home in 2008.
The 36-year-old actor recalled the rapey incident in an article published by The Advocate on Friday, Nov. 10.
Dottley, who was 27 at the time, says he met Medina at The Abbey in West Hollywood in December of 2008 He said Medina invited him and a friend back to his mansion and gave him a personal tour of his upscale home.
Dottley, who is openly gay, said that’s when the tour took a wrong turn in Medina’s master bedroom.
“There was no ‘Do you want to see my bedroom?’ We literally got to the door and he grabbed me by the chest of my shirt and threw me onto his bed. Now I’m 6 foot tall and was 155 pounds, and this is a stocky strong man. We all have these things playing in our heads of what would we ever do if someone ever tried to do something, and none of my preplanned motions would work.”
Dottley said his friend burst into the room and interrupted the attempted rape. The actor said he told no one about the attempted rape because Medina is a powerful man in Hollywwod.
“I was emasculated, I was humiliated, and at that time, no one was coming forward and I was afraid if I went to the police or the press that Benny Medina was powerful enough to ruin both my career and my ex-husband’s.”
Medina, whose real name is Ahmad “Benny” Medina, began managing singer Lopez’s career in 1999. He remains her longtime manager.
As a teenager Medina performed in the R&B group Apollo on Motown Records.
