Doug Jones
Senate candidate Doug Jones admits his campaign sent out racist campaign fliers to black constituents in Alabama. The mailer was intended to motivate black people to vote for Jones rather than his opponent Roy Moore, whose campaign was nearly upended by sexual harassment allegations.

The mailer, which was designed to resemble an Internet meme, featured the text: “Think if a Black man went after high school girls anyone would try to make him a senator?” Under that is a photo of a young black man with a skeptical look on his face.

Doug Jones ad

The Root’s Michael Harriot lashed out at Jones' race-baiting tactics, which seems to be a running theme among Democratic candidates.

"Part of the reason the Democratic Party has been marginalized as a party... is whitemannery like this. The Democratic Party is trash. It is the reason Hillary Clinton lost. It is the reason Donald Trump is president.”

Others noted that black people routinely play the race card in every election. Politicians know that blacks don't care about the issues -- only the race of the candidates. Nowhere was this more evident than the recent Atlanta mayoral race.

That's why Jones' incredibly insulting flier went to print without anyone in his campaign thinking it was a bad idea.

One user summed up the mindset of black people who bond emotionally with their oppressors (Democrats).

"Black folks are going to vote Jones anyway, even after this insult. After all, black folks are used to the paternalistic Dem party insulting them... It must be a bitter taste to go vote for people you KNOW think you are inferior."

Yes, this too shall pass, and even the "woke" blacks like Harriot will continue to vote for Democrats because, as a race, we have a habit of not learning from our past.

  • Lady Chatterley’s Lover

Statement attributed to Judge Roy Moore:
    'America was great during slavery.'

I guess making America great again depends on your color or perspective of what is great.

  • Phillybruh

Sure lacking in tact, but where is the lie!

  • Dakota H

Both parties have racist people in them. No party is for the people of color. Im so over all these elections and bullsh*t. Black people have to stay woke and look out for themselves in white amerikkka.

  • gail fowler

I get so sick of people talking about the race card there is none it is what it is racism and nothing else .

  • sunni_daze

Wow, the pickings are slim in Alabama. A pedophile and a racist.....

  • Noirluv45

Sandra, sometimes I think you write things to get people riled up. Perfect example: "Politicians know that blacks don’t care about the issues — only the race of the candidates. Nowhere was this more evident than the recent Atlanta mayoral race." Now, you know this isn't true. Black people have been banging on the beast since we got here and still continue to and always will, so that statement is a lie. I think your conservative white-washed glasses are foggy. Whites vote White all the time. In fact, upholding White supremacy usurps everything to them that's why Alabamian conservatives will vote for Roy Moore regardless of what he did. The same people are the ones who voted from that person in the WH now. How much do you wanna bet that White folks voted for Mary Norwood because Atlanta is being gentrified and they'd love to see a White mayor in place?

  • TMW

Wow. Today’s “real news” headlines are about Moore waxing nostalgic about how great America was during slavery - such a “family time” according to that dayum fool. And talking about reds and yellows. I don’t live in Alabama but I’d take Doug Jones over Roy Moore any day.

  • PLEASEDontTellMe

Others noted that black people routinely play the race card in every election. Politicians know that blacks don’t care about the issues — only the race of the candidates. Nowhere was this more evident than the recent Atlanta mayoral race.
"Others?" noted...who are the others...and where are you getting the numbers that support your statement, where you are basically saying "BLACK people vote uninformed"....Are you implying that Keisha is in adequate choice as mayor of Atlanta....and considering ATLANTA historically vote in black it because she's a woman?

  • Victor Nathan

answer the damn question!!!!...will they make him a senator?

  • Hmmm~?

Black folks have always been used as a pawn in politics. As stated above, they know that black people simply are not interested in politics and base their vote off whom they feel they can relate to (i.e black). We have never been and never will be seen as a serious demographic, other than when someone is trying to get our vote.

  • MsPam

Unfortunately some of us go along to get along!

  • Hmmm~?

To be fair, most people in general do not give much wind to politics. It’s not specifically a black thing. But we aren’t going to sit here and act like black people as a whole have been interested or as involved as they should be in politics. Black politicians have always been a minority within a minority, even within historically black towns.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

    Which one is the racist?

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

"“Think if a Black man went after high school girls anyone would try to make him a senator?” "
The answer is no. We all know that. Nothing racist about what he's saying.

  • Andre Johnson

The editorial in this article is more racist than what is being discussed. Wow, Black people only care about race, and not issues. Im guessing the City of Detroit is the exception, to this rule?

" a race, we have a habit of not learning from our past.

Can you imagine Jews voting for an avowed Nazi? Of course not. Yet blacks voted for former Klansman DEMOCRAT Robert Byrd for YEARS. Upon his death, Hillary Clinton called the Klansman her MENTOR, yet blacks are still licking the crack of Hillary's @ss.

    DEMOCRAT Byrd on the Klan:

"I am a former Kleagle [recruiter] of the Ku Klux Klan in Raleigh County . . . The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia. It is necessary that the order be promoted immediately and in every state in the union.”
    — Robert C. Byrd, 1946, Democratic Senator from West Virginia, 1959-2010, Senate Majority Leader, 1977-80 and 1987-88, Senate President Pro Tempore, 1989-95, 2001-03, 2007-2010

  • sunni_daze

Both. One said families were better during slavery and the other sent this headass flier.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

I actually don't see anything racist about the flyer.
Race-baiting maybe. Undiplomatic. A bit tacky for sure.
But he asked a simple question on that flyer. And we all know the answer to that question (no). To me it's politically incorrect, but not racist at all.

  • Simone

And Hillary Clinton went to Klansman Robert Byrd's funeral and spoke highly of him. Then-President Obama even provided the eulogy. President Trump has never attended a Klansman's funeral but he's the racist.

  • NeverSurprised

Now lets talk about LBJ, the DEMOCRAT esident who formulated the plan to keep blacks t and dependent GER DEMOCRAT HANDOUTS:. Blacks with a passion. He used tbe smokescreen of tbe Civil Rights Act to blacks to believe dems were theur iends. These Negroes, they're getting pretty uppity these days and that's a problem for us since they've got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we've got to do something about this, we've got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.

This quote appears on page 155 of Goodwin’s LBJ biography. The utterance was made to Richard Russell, a fellow Democratic Senator from Georgia. Johnson on

Now do you want to give us a list of racist comments by REPUBLICANS while you're at it? Somehow, I think not.

Y'all negros who try to convince us that the Democrats are the party of racists but the Republican are actually looking out for black folk... y'all are just ridiculous with that.

  • Elevated Soul

    Display that knowledge!!!

  • Simone

I love your comments! You post absolute facts and the truth about the ugly, racist history of the Democrat Party. Once I learned the truth, I ran away from that Democrat Plantation. Black Democrats are still slaves and do not even realize it. That's the tragedy. They are voting for their own demise. Some have woken up, I hope more do, so keep posting!

  • Simone

He's pandering to you based on your race. If Doug Jones thinks Black voters are his equal, why doesn't he win our votes with flyers that discuss his economic plan, etc. Black people care about jobs and the economy just like White people, but he focuses strictly on race. That is insulting.

  • C Mack

Thank you! Every politician is dirty! The message on the shirt is right though! We're known as a highly sensitive race so he appealed to that as part of his campaign! Wouldn't get my vote but I see his strategy

  • C Mack

    Yes. Yes, he is.

  • NeverSurprised

When an anti-lynching bill was introduced in the 30's, it was DEMOCRATS who OPPOSED it:

"Mr. President, the crime of lynching . . . is not of sufficient importance to justify this legislation.”
    — Sen. Claude Pepper (DEMOCRAT., Fla.), 1938, spoken during a six-hour speech against the anti-lynching bill

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

The Republicans are the kings of racial pandering and racial gerrymandering, but you seem to have no issue with that.
You find Dough Jones' approach toward black people "insulting", but somehow you don't find Donald Trump's approach toward black people insulting. Please sit down.

  • sunni_daze

And you have the right to your opinion. But that picture of that blackman does trigger , because everything bad is associate with black. Black Men , Black Cats , Black Magic etc. He and his staff knew what they were doing.

  • C Mack

No what we're not about to do is sit up here and make it seem like blacks are the only race guilty of superficial voting. I agree with your first sentence

  • Elevated Soul

EXACTLY...At this point Black Democrats have made the choice to be politically stupid.

Hillary even admired a woman that wanted Blacks exterminated ?Margaret Sanger?so there is a pattern there. She worked for a staunch racist named Barry Goldwater.

Obama know she is racist and yet he told Black Obamabots to vote for that bish....Obama is a massive enemy to Black people but many are fooled by him because he comes in Black face...

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

Exactly. The fact that an unqualified man like Donald Trump became president was only possible because of superficial voting by millions of white people.

  • MythCalledLove

The black guy looks like he could be Kandi brother. Or Kandi with no hair

  • Elevated Soul

"Stay woke"?....Most Black people have been asleep for almost 500 d@mn years now so "woke" is not even in the mix.

  • the conscious one

Another case of we shouldn't be tied to either Dems or Repubs. Neither cares about us and just use us for their own gains. We need our own political party the truly represent our interests. Black Alabamans have another "lessor evil" choice just like with Hillary vs Trump. Evil is still evil, so they are screwed regardless. This is why black politics need to be improved all around this country.

  • Roderick2011

Byrd recanted his membership in the Klan.

  • NeverSurprised

Back to DEMOCRAT President LBJ, whom blacks rushed to vote for.. His black former chauffer, Robert Parker, wrote about Johnson's use of the word ni@@er:

"Johnson asked Parker whether he'd prefer to be referred to by his name rather than "boy," "ni@@er" or "chief." When Parker said he would, Johnson grew angry and said, "As long as you are black, and you’re gonna be black till the day you die, no one’s gonna call you by your godd@mn name. So no matter what you are called, ni@@er, you just let it roll off your back like water, and you’ll make it. Just pretend you’re a godd@mn piece of furniture."
From Capitol Hill in Black and White, by Robert Parker

  • Roderick2011

LOL. Right only black folks get welfare, Social Security and Medicare.

You're a troll and no I have a great job earning six figures now shut up and sit in the corner now.

  • Noirluv45

Yes, he is a racist. It's funny how we can have selective vision.

    1. His family real estate company refused to rent to Blacks.
    2. Even when the Central Park 5 were acquitted of rape, he took out a full-page ad calling for the return of the death penalty.
    3. He seems to think Black people are monolithic by calling us, "The Blacks."

Yes, people call him a racist because he's a card carrying racist.

  • Roderick2011

    Trump is a racist.

He called black NFL players SOB's for exercising their 1st Amendment rights.

He called out Marshawn Lynch because he didn't stand for the national anthem.

Trump's press secretary called for Jamelle Hill to be fired because she exercised her 1st Amendment right.

Yet Trump didn't say boo about Greg Popovich, Steve Kerr or Miss Texas ( she basically called Trump a white supremacist) after they criticized Trump.

    What's the difference?

  • A D N

Maybe I missed something... but the black male's image isn't considered racist.

  • A D N

When America is great for every citizen, it is then Great. When has that happened? When?! How can America be great during times when field slavery existed, as if slavery working in a hot field alllll day, enforced with physical, emotional and mental abused, as well as threatened with the notion that your family could/would be separated at a notion of wanting a different life than slavery or being "owned" by another human? You ignorant and stupid people!!! I am just disgusted with the notion of "blacks" signing on to this complete idiotic message being promoted to decrease or eliminate the actions of them and the experience of us...Wake the F up!!!! They promoted the message of "accountability and responsibility", but will not say one thing as a whole race about the experiences of "slaves" in America as WRONG, and how it benefitted others...and how that experience of one race STILLLLLLLL affects the other race. And now....blacks are signing up with their message of "race-baiting" to deter you once again from their actions and eliminate us from banding and speaking out against injustice! As long as it is division, the attention changes from them...They are applying a stigma to discussing race issues with "race-baiting" terminology.

Gloria Allred knew it too and that is why she never gave the book to Roy Moore for signature analysis.

The Democratic Party is desperate. They will do anything to anyone to get their way....

  • My 2 boys

So are we going to sit back and ignore the most asinine comment that ROY MOORE made regarding America was great even though we had slavery. To those who don't know Roy stated, and I quote "I think it was great at the time when families were united — even though we had slavery — they cared for one another.... Our families were strong, our country had a direction." I'm curious as to why this hasn't gotten attention.

Exactly....This is what Black democrats support in ignorance. The Democratic party have them believing everyone else is racist them but in truth they are worse. Yet Blacks Democrat are running around calling everyone else a "coon",when in truth they are......

  • Evillene

I don't think the flyer is racist but it is definitely true. Maybe black voters in Alabama need to be reminded of the monstrous racial disparity that exists in our country and most keenly in their state. This white child molester was a judge, is winning a senate race and he has said that America was last "great" when blacks were slaves. If a black man had an unpaid parking ticket he'd be judged unfit by the majority of white voters. An unfair double standard -- if black folks in the South bothered to vote, Cheeto would not be president and the pedophile senator-to-be wouldn't stand a chance.

  • Roderick2011

They are politicians not regular American civilians.

  • Evillene

No. If you are who and what you say you are, you've only traded one plantation for another. This is Amerikkka. Blacks are completely outside of partisan politics -- it has always been the choice of bad or worse. Democrats never did anything to black folks that was any more awful than what Republicans want to do to us today.

  • Evillene

Tell it! We are not here for these alt-right trolls or sleeping c00ns -- or whatever they are.

  • NeverSurprised

Now let's talk bout the Clintons, whom blacks have been blindly loyalty to for decades. Let's examine how have blacks been treated in return.

During his first presidential campaign Bill Clinton was concerned with winning back millions of southern white voters. Part of his plan was to show them he was tough on crime, so just before the critical New Hampshire primary, he flew back to Arkansas to oversee the execution of Ricky Ray Rector, a mentally impaired black man who had so little conception of what was about to happen to him that he asked for the dessert from his last meal to be saved for him for later. After the execution, Clinton remarked, “I can be nicked a lot, but no one can say I’m soft on crime.”

  • NeverSurprised

Blacks hate Trump, but if you have a relative serving life in prison under the federal three strikes law, you have Bill Clinton to thank ( and Hillary went right along with his policies).

Bill Clinton presided over the largest increase in federal and state prison inmates of any president in American history and supported the 100-to-1 sentencing disparity for crack versus powder cocaine, which produced significant racial inequities in sentencing.

Clinton championed a federal “three strikes” law in 1994 and later signed a $30 billion crime bill that created dozens of new federal capital crimes, mandated life sentences for some three-time offenders, and authorized more than $16 billion for state prison grants and the expansion of police forces.

When Clinton left office in 2001, America had the highest rate of incarceration in the world. Human Rights Watch reported that in seven states, African Americans constituted 80 to 90% of all drug offenders sent to prison, even though they were no more likely than whites to use or sell illegal drugs. Prison admissions for drug offenses reached a level in 2000 for African Americans more than 26 times the level in 1983.

That was all due to your DEMOCRATIC plantation overseer, Bill Clinton. Now tell me what Trump has ever done that negatively impacted the lives of black families in the same manner.

  • ?Royalty?

  • NeverSurprised

As I noted below, DEMOCRAT Bill Clinton's 1994 crime bill disproportionately impacted black inmates (3 strikes law) and resulted in blacks being 80 to 90% of all drug offenders sent to prison, even though they were no more likely than whites to use or sell illegal drugs.

Clinton also diverted billions from public housing and child welfare budgets and re-routed those funds to his mass incarceration program. By 1996, the penal budget was twice the amount that had been allocated to food stamps. During Clinton’s tenure, funding for public housing was slashed by $17 billion (a reduction of 61%), while funding for corrections was boosted by $19 billion (an increase of 171% -- that's not a typo -- 171 percent!!!), Sociologist Loïc Wacquantsaid Clinton's program “effectively [made] the construction of prisons the nation’s main housing program for the urban poor."

Eminem is the type to seek attention when a new album drops. He has a new album coming out Dec 15. Trump knows this and refuses to respond to him. Trump and Eminem were cool years back when Trump introduced him at the MTV Awards in some mock Slim Shady's running for President skit. Trump also did not respond to T.I. Many famous people, Black, White & Latin talk trash about President Trump and he responds to some, not all. My Mom's from Kingston & My Daddy's from Mandeville. They've seen people's homes burnt down & violence for not voting for the "Democrat Party" in Jamaica. They came here legally for opportunity and freedom of speech, thought & expression. Don't doubt someone is Black just because they think for themselves and don't fall in line with what the Democrat Party slave masters tell them to do, think and say.

  • Andre Johnson

T.I? What exactly did he say that was discussed over the course of three days by social media and the regular media? Trump was cool with Snoop also, they did that awful comedy central roast together. Im not from Jamaica, but im pretty sure the " Democracy" is different there, than here in the United States. What has the Republican Party don't in the last Thirty Seven years to "inspire" Black people to vote for them, because just like you think the Democrats exploit minorites, the Republicans do it with poor Whites and Christians. I don't see rural areas becoming better.
