Sean Combs received a wake up call on Monday from the younger generation who no longer know who he is or take him seriously. It’s a humiliating new world for aging stars like Combs and JAY-Z, both 48, who are nearing retirement age.
KRON 4 News anchor Darya Folsum angered Combs’ fans when she aired a phone call from fellow news anchor Henry Wofford, who laughed at the media mogul’s latest PR stunt to buy a NFL team.
“I don’t even know what Diddy does?” Folsum laughed. “What does Diddy do?”
“How can you take Diddy seriously? The guy looks high right there,” Wofford said. “He looks like he just smoked a blunt and drank a 40… Stay in your comfort zone. If you know music, go and do your music thing,” Wofford said, referring to Combs.
A “40” refers to brands of 40 ounce beer that are popular in the hood.
Rappers T.I., Snoop Dogg and Nipsey Hussle rushed to Combs’ defense on social media.
“I’m offended to my core,” wrote Hussle on Instagram.com. He went on to list Combs’ accomplishments — most of which Combs achieved on the backs of others.
Let’s be serious: Combs couldn’t afford to buy a NFL team if Oprah Winfrey lent him half the money.
Who is he kidding?
Despite Forbes naming him atop one of their mythical top earner lists, Combs has fallen off in recent years. He does not have the clout nor the financial assets to buy a NFL team.
His attempt to purchase the Carolina Panthers is yet another publicity stunt, which is why the NFL is not taking him seriously.
Combs has built his entire career on stunts, such as the shiny suit music videos. Why can’t people poke fun at him now?
